Blaine Alvin NielsenFebruary 18, 1934 ~ May 29, 2017 (age 83)
Blaine Alvin Nielsen, 83, passed away at home May 29, 2017 due to natural causes.
Blaine was born February 18, 1934, the first of four children, to Dean A. and Esther A. Nielsen in Provo, Utah. He lived briefly in Wyoming and various locations in Utah, arriving in Pleasant Grove at the age of fifteen where he resided for the rest of his life. After graduating from Pleasant Grove High School, he married Mary A. Rasmussen. He attended trade school where he received the training in sheet metal work that would serve him for the next 32 years. After retiring from the Sheet Metal Workers Union he went to work as a bus driver for Alpine School District. A long-time member of the LDS Church, Blaine served in many callings.
As a Boy Scout, he attained the rank of Eagle. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and was a member of the Utah Deer Sam’s Club. Among his hobbies, he was a woodworker, tied fishing flies, and also had skill with a crochet hook.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Maureen, and his wife Mary. Survived by current spouse Sharon Rupp; sisters, Naydene Grace and Christine Miller; former spouse, Jean Bone; and Blaine and Mary’s seven children, 19 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, as well as 5 step-children.
Services will be held Saturday June 3, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Timpanogos LDS Fifth Ward Chapel, 800 N. 100 W., Pleasant Grove, Utah. Family and friends are welcome to attend viewings at the Chapel (address above), Friday evening from 7-9 PM and prior to funeral services, Saturday, from 12:30-1:30 PM. Interment will be at American Fork City Cemetery.
