Gayle (Larsen) RutterMarch 24, 1935 ~ June 6, 2017 (age 82)
Gayle Larsen Rutter, 82, of Pleasant Grove passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 6, 2017 surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren. She was born March 24, 1935 in Salt Lake City to Earl Victor and Valerie Marie Smith Larsen. She married J. James Rutter on August 17, 1956 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Gayle grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from South High School in 1953. She attended Brigham Young University where she was introduced to the love of her life to whom she was completely devoted during their 61 years of marriage. Gayle and Jim spent most of their married life in Pleasant Grove (Manila) where they raised their five children. Gayle touched countless people, spending her entire life in the service of those around her, particularly her family, friends and neighbors. She was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ and served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints until the day she returned to her heavenly home.
She is survived by her husband Jim; five children: Tammy (Kendall) Swensen, Lynne Anne (Keith) Longhurst, David (Kim) Rutter, Matt (Kristen) Rutter, Jared (Deena) Rutter; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and her sister, Val Merit.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Clyde Larsen.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Manila Third Ward Chapel, 3396 North 900 West, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a viewing Friday evening from 6-8 pm at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent and further information may be obtained at www.olpinmortuary.com.
