Grant C Hancock

October 5, 1920 ~ July 21, 2017 (age 96)

Grant Carson Hancock, 96, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Stonehenge of American Fork, Utah.  He was the widower of Glenna Christensen Hancock.  They shared almost 70 years of marriage together.

Grant was born in Salt Lake City, UT. He was the son of Jeremiah Alonzo Hancock and May Carson. He graduated from West High School, Class of 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Grant served in the United States Army during WW II in the European theater, and worked for the Railroad following his military duty.  He had a successful insurance business and loved his clients as family. 

Grant was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He enjoyed listening to jazz music, talking about the church to everyone he would meet, spending time at the family cabin, taking his family camping and watching his sons surf.  He was kind, loving, a great father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by his seven children, Carol Lewis, Linda (John) Cook, David (Peggy) Hancock, Louise (Barry) Mathews, Richard (Jena) Hancock, Virginia (Matt) Harrington, and Barbara (John) Mills, 31 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Glenna Christensen Hancock, his parents, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, 1 son-in-law and 1 granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Manila Ninth Ward Chapel, 3785 W Box Elder Dr., Cedar Hills, Utah, under the direction of Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Family and friends may attend a viewing from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.  Interment will be in the Santa Barbara Cemetery, Santa Barbara, California on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.
