Joan Helen (Giles) ByingtonDecember 18, 1934 ~ July 29, 2017 (age 82)
Joan Helen Giles Byington, our dearly loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully with her eternal companion at her side on July 29, 2017. Joan was born December 18, 1934 in Jerome, Idaho to Henry and Helen Giles. She was the only daughter raised with her five brothers: Marvin, Lynn, DeLoy, Monte and Frank, who all loved their “sis”.
Joan attended school in Jerome where she was a cheerleader and friend to the underdog. She spent summers with her parents and her five brothers in the mountains, logging trees and cooking with her mother for the boys.
Joan met the love of her life DeVerl U Byington of Rockland, Idaho and was married May 15, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. Mom dedicated her time and efforts in raising her five children, always putting them first. She was the mom that everyone loved!
Mom and Dad moved to Utah in 1957, there, Mom lived her life as a stay at home mom and a full time “partner for DeVerl, who owned his own businesses.
Mom was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings throughout her life. She and DeVerl loved serving two missions to Martins Cove Wyoming and also a mission serving in the LDS 12 Step Program. What great examples to their family.
Mom is survived by her husband DeVerl and her four children: LaDell (Paul) Burgon of Highland, Tracy (Keri) Byington of Lehi, Sheri (Scott) Barker of Orem, Troy (Joe Webber) Byington of Ventura CA; 16 grand-children, 34 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Lynn (Ann) Giles, Monte (Kathy) Giles and Frank (Rose) Giles and foster family, Xuay and Phan La (and their children).
