Martha Carlealur Williams, passed away June 16, 2017, at age 87 in Highland, Utah. Martha was born July 13, 1929 in Cohay, Mississippi to Curtis Abner Holifield and Mary Melissa Beasley. She grew up with her parents and brothers on a family farm and attended East Central School in Moss Point, Mississippi. On March 28, 1945 she married Ernest W. Williams in Mississippi, and followed her husband, who was in the Navy for 20 years, to several different military assignments. These military assignments took them to Morocco twice, East Coast assignments, and to Pensacola NAS in Florida, where all 6 of her children were born. After retiring from the Navy, her husband Earnest worked in the Civil Service for many years, and then the family retired in Washington State.
During her life Martha worked at an ice cream factory, the Navy Exchange in Morocco, was a supervisor for farm harvest crews, and several other jobs. . She loved to cook, making almost everything from scratch. Mostly Martha was a full-time mother, raising 6 children who were her greatest sense of accomplishment. She was a great friend to many and was loved by all. Martha was a true disciple of Jesus Christ, and lived an exemplary life of selfless service and sacrifice for her family and others. Her legacy of love and her influence will live on for many generations. Though she faced many challenges in her life, she kept a positive attitude and never complained about anything.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents Curtis Abner Holifield and Mary Melissa Holifield, brother Jack Beasley Holifield, husband Earnest W. Williams, and daughter Susan Kay Williams Cerul. Martha is survived by her brother M.E. (Buck) Holifield, and children Nicki (Dave) Crawley, Randall (Denise) Williams, Gary (Sue) Williams, Sandra (Mike) Carter, and Dennis (Alison) Williams. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m at Wade Baptist Church, in Wade, Mississippi. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.olpinmortuary.com.
