January 2, 1943 ~ July 5, 2009

Doug Carlton of Lindon, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away Sunday, July 5, 2009 surrounded by family and friends after a valiant battle with emphysema.  Doug was born January 2, 1943 in Bay Minette, Alabama. He married Gayleen Bullock on October 28, 1967 in Orem. 

Doug grew up in Orem and attended schools there.  He served in the U. S. Navy for 5 years and worked 32 years for Geneva Steel.  Doug’s true passions were being outdoors and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Gayleen; three children: Justin; Amanda (Joe) Hutchings, and Calvin (Lisa); grandchildren: Sidney, Hunter, Sierra, Aspen; step-father, Robert Branin; six siblings: Linda Johnson, Dwayne Branin, Malin Branin, Judy Adams, and Howard Branin.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna and sister, Lorraine Jacobs. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Old Lindon Chapel, 10 North Main Street, Lindon.  Viewings will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Thursday one hour prior to services.   Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to any branch of Wells Fargo Bank to assist with medical and funeral expenses.
