| Renona May Johnson Candland |
|
Our beloved mother and friend, Renona May Johnson Candland, 82, of Pleasant Grove passed away quietly in her home on Sunday, July 19, 2009. Renona was born May 2, 1927 in Acequia, Minadoka Co. Idaho, to Leander Calvin Johnson and Mary Jane Whittle Johnson. Renona married her WWII pen pal and love of her live Harry Card Candland Oct 24, 1947 in the Manti, UT Temple. Renona (Dolly) graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and attended BYU. She was a member of the Army Corp of Nurses while pursuing her nursing degree during WWII. She worked for many years as a Practical Nurse, Seamstress at Baileys, and delivered paper for the Deseret News. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served many years teaching primary and as a Den Mother. She also taught primary at the Utah State Developmental Center Branch. Mom loved her family and was proud, not boastful, of her children and grandchildren’s accomplishments. She enjoyed afternoon drives and exploring new places. She was a fixer. She had a subtle sense of humor and often the recipient of her practical joke never realized that she was behind the deed. Mom loved the LDS gospel and always turned to the Lord during times of trial. Her listening ear, love and support will be missed by all, but more so by her family. She is survived by three children: Debora (Stuart) Jackson, Edwin James (Kirsten Sanders), and Laura (Adam) Jones, 8 grandchildren: Jeremy S Jackson, Carisa D Jackson, Angelika M. Jones, Jasmin E. Candland, Jacob A. Jones, Nicholas S. Jones, Allison Candland and James A Candland, sister: Ila June (Eldon) Farnes and brother, Andy W. Johnson. Renona was preceded in death by her sweetheart and husband Harry; sons Henry Bruce and Glen Harry; brothers, Edwin, Marvin and Calvin (JR). Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Timpanogos Third Ward Chapel, 425 East 500 North, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Friends may attend a viewing Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.

Debbie, I remember many times when we played in your parents house and your mom shared apple pie with all of us. I miss that. It was so good to see you and your mom in February, thanks for bringing her up. You mom was a good person and will be missed by lots of people. Remember she is now with your dad, happy and healthy. We love you. Phyllis |

Debbie, Eddie, and Laura, At times like this it is difficult to find the right words to say. I know your Mom suffered many years with illness, and although many will say her passing is a blessing, she will still be missed. I remember picking cherries in the back yard with her. I remember the fish pond she hovered over so none of us would fall in and get hurt. I remember her laugh, when she started to laugh everyone laughed. I pray that you will be comforted in your time of loss. Love, Denise |

| Harry and Renona were wonderful neighbors and ward members. Now that she has joined your dad, we will surely miss the warmth they always gave. Please know of our love and aloha for your parents. At this time of sorrow, please know you are in our prayers. She was a great lady whom we enjoyed getting to know over the years. She will be missed. |
| Deb, Carissa,Jeremy & Stew, We are sorry to hear about the passing of your mother/grandmother. We were in California at the time of the funeral and viewing, please forgive for our lack of attendance. She was a wonderful woman. The last few years were full of trying times as her health went down, but we saw the great unifying power of family coming together in these times as you all worked together to care for her. We know you will miss her. Our prayers are with you. Love, The Fugal Family. |
