Jon Christopher Hammond

July 24, 1974 ~ January 15, 2010

Jon Christopher Hammond, 35 passed away peacefully on January 15, 2010 surrounded by his loving siblings. He was born July 24, 1974 to Jay and Linda (McMichael) Hammond in American Fork, Utah. He attended schools in Utah County and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. He was a skilled craftsman and worked in the construction industry for many years. Jon was a kind and gentle soul who was a great friend to many.

Jon had two passions in his life the first being his precious sons, Creighton and Karac. He loved being their dad and playing sports with them. The times he spent with his sons were the happiest moments of his life. His second passion was for his beloved San Diego Chargers. We know he is hanging out on the 50 yard line cheering them on to the Super Bowl.

Jon was preceded in death by his mother and we take comfort in knowing that he was met by her as he passed. He is survived by his parents Jay and Linda Hammond, St. George, Utah, and his siblings: Julie, Ashland, OR; Michael, San Diego, CA; Jeff, Jennifer and Joe, Las Vegas, NV; Robyn, Riverton, UT.  Jon’s sparkle lives on in the eyes of his boys. They will feel his love over any time or space that separates them.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, UT.  A viewing will be held one hour prior to services on Saturday. Interment will be in the Lindon City Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com

Dear Hammond Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Jon was at our house so much growing up that he felt like another older brother, but better since he was a lot nicer to me than Mark and Danny ever were. I remember that he let me make a poster for the baseball card shop they started. I'm sure it was terrible, I couldn't have been more than eight or nine, but he hung the poster up anyway. I remember that made me feel really good.
Sincerely,
Laura Norman Marre

Dearest Jonny,
I thank you for the love for the laughter, for the gift of music you shared with me. You will never be forgotten. My heart is broken. I am so grateful to have had you in my life. I am so thankful for all the times you wrapped your arm around me and called me "sis" and told me everything would be alright. You comforted me like no other. I miss your simplicity, your sense of humor, your knowledge in sports and mafia movies(invaluable). You were such a great teacher. Willing to show your skills and strengths. You were the most "true" soul I have come across. I pray your family finds deep comfort in this time of your passing for the loss of you leaves a deep hole in everyone's heart. I pray that we all will meet again.
I miss you then, I miss you now, and I will miss you always. It is the greatest of men who are tried the hardest. You are one of a kind. May Jonny 5 and the Casinos live on forever. Keep playing, Keep dancing, Keep loving, Keep caring, and keep being you...Jon....Jon Hambone....Jon Hambone Hammond.
The pleasure was all mine, God be with you till we meet again. You will never be forgotten.
I love you,
Kim - Kim
