Jean Reeves Gallagher Wolsey

May 10, 1941 ~ April 1, 2010

Beloved Mother, Wife, and Grandmother, Jean Reeves Gallagher Wolsey passed away in SLC on April 1, 2010, following complications from a respiratory illness.

Jean loved to learn, and had an engaging, quick sense of humor. Jean was born in NYC on May 10, 1941, to adoring parents who predeceased her in 2003. She received her undergraduate degree at BYU and her Masters from TSU. She and Ronald Wayne Wolsey, Sr. were sealed in the Cardston, Alberta Temple. During their marriage, they lived in NY, CT, MD, and lately, UT.

Jean loved her vocation, teaching British Lit to high school students, but her true love was serving the Lord. She provided leadership in the auxiliary organizations of the LDS Church on the stake, ward and branch levels. Jean will be missed by her husband; children—Wayne (Heather), Ann, Mary Olpin (Jeff), Jane Barlow (Mason) and David; brothers Charles (DeAnn) and George (Cherie); grandchildren; aunts Jean Mackey and Ann Berg; and her many friends.

She was the most generous, loving, accepting, supportive and protective mother and grandmother any child could want. We love her and will miss her desperately. Thanks to the medical staff at the U of U for their tireless efforts in caring for Jean.

Funeral services will be held at the Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove, Utah, on Monday, April 5, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family www.olpinmortuary.com.

My sincere condolences for this very difficult time for your family. Dale died last April, so I know understand what you are going through. Jean was one of my dearest friends. I will always remember the times we spent together in my basement in Maryland making dried flower arrangements and making each other laugh. I will never forget her.

Ron - how sorry we are to hear about Jean. We hope the Lord will help you and your family with your grieving. We just got the obituary this afternoon (Monday) or we could have come down for the funeral. We had no idea you were in Utah; I was looking for an obit in Maryland or Virginia, after receiving an email from Judi Martin Johnson last week. We have often wondered about your family - where everyone was and how they are doing. I am sorry we lost touch with each other.

Please give our condolences to the children.

We moved to Cove, Cache, Utah last Fall. Six of our seven are in Utah these days.

Dear Ron,

Ron and Kathie fowarded Jean's beautiful obituary to me. John and I are so sad to hear of your family's loss. Jean was always so passionate about being a good wife and mom. I remember how enthusiastically she bore her testimonies and lived her life. Please know that our prayers and thoughts are with you and your children (and their spouses) and grandchildren.
