Zachary Isaac Carter

May 29, 1987 ~ April 11, 2010

Zachary Isaac Carter, 22, of Pleasant Grove was reunited with both his Earthly and Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 11, 2010.  Zac was born May 29, 1987 in Provo to Scott B. and Deborah F. Carter.

Zac grew up in Pleasant Grove and was an Eagle Scout.  He graduated from P. G. High in 2005.  He enjoyed his time serving in the Hill Cumorah Pageant Youth Work Crew in New York for two summers prior to his mission and was looking forward to returning as an Assistant Work Crew Leader at the Pageant this summer.  He served in the Omaha Nebraska Mission from 2007-2009.  Zac was a hard worker and was currently employed as a Meat Cutter at Sunflower Market in Orem.

Zac was full of life and always up for an adventure.  He had a “heart of gold”, was a great friend to all and was eager to serve and help others.  He was very handy and could fix anything.  Zac loved to tease and was an awesome uncle who was adored by his nieces and nephews.  They will miss his playful spirit.

He is survived by his mother Deborah of Pleasant Grove; six siblings: Adam, Rachel (Jeff) Atkinson, Joshua (Aimee), Sarah (Nate) Lloyd, Rebekah (Jared) Hawkins, Seth (currently serving in the Raleigh, NC Mission); grandparents: Bob & Inez Ferguson and Gladys Carter; and eight loving nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father Scott in 2009.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Timpanogos Stake Center, 800 North 100 West, Pleasant Grove.  Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services.  Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.

Zach was a great help to my mother taking care of her place here for quite a few years. I also taught him in American History at Pleasant Grove High and found him to be a very agreeable young man. This loss comes as quite a shock to all of us, and we send you our most sincere, heart-felt regrets that such a tragedy loss could happen - -

God keep him, and comfort you . . .

sincerely -

It was such a privilege to have Elder Carter finish out the last months of his earthly mission serving in our little branch (Holdrege). We are grateful for the times we were able to have him in our home for dinner, and to feel of the Spirit that he carried with him. He was a fantastic missionary, and a great example to our children. He was someone who always had a smile on his face, even if he wasn't trying! Thank you ever so much for "sharing" him with us. He will truly be missed. May you find much peace and strength in the days and weeks ahead. The Gospel is true, and how wonderful it is that Families Can Be Forever! Until that time... may God be with you.

Love,
The Blanchards

We are so sorry for your loss. We feel so bad for you all. Losing a child/brother and husband/father so close together seems more than one should have to bare. Thank heavens for the gospel and the knowledge that the seperation of death is only temporary. We will keep you all in our prayers now and as you adjust to your life without Zach and Scott. Again we are so so so very sorry for your loss. Our hearts are breaking for you!

Zach was always happy and alot of fun. He became quite the dancer and we used to have alot of fun going country dancing. We had alot of fun times in High School and College days. He was consistent in writing letters on his mission and they were always fun to read. Zach was a good friend and will be greatly missed. His death has been quite a shock and my heart goes out to his family at this time. May God be with you until you meet again.

We are so sorry for your loss. We are the parents of Elder HIcks who served with your son. Our family has been thru such a loss and we send our prayers and thoughts to you and your family. One thing we have learned from this is the great blessing of that eternal family unit. We as members are truly blessed with that knowledge. Time will make it softer but a mothers heart take time to heal.

I served with Carter on the 2005 and 2006 Hill Cumorah Work Crew. We became great friends through his pleasant attitude and cheerful disposition. I loved him like a brother and considered him one of my greatest friends. I was lifted up by Carter through many words of advice and support shared through these years. I'm very sorry to hear of this. I know things will be difficult, but now he is doing what he loved on the other side, helping others around him. He will be missed.

Although I didn't know Zachary, I grew up with his parents and lived nearby his grandparents in my youth. What wonderful families!! Wonderful neighbors!! I send my condolences at this time along with my husband's family, Mel and Nola Parry who lived in the neighborhood many years ago. Even though we don't know the why's of why he was chosen to go now or the timing involved, I know the Lord has a very important reason for why he was chosen to go now. I believe that he is nearby and watching over you all. From what I've read about him, he is an exemplary young man and I'm sure the Lord is using his talents on the other side of the veil. Debbie, my heart felt love and concern to you and your children. To the Carters and Ferguson families, the same. You all have touched my life and been a influence for the better. thank you and much love to you all.

I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Zach at the Sunflower Market. I remember when he first started working there, all of the guys in the meat department were excited and glad to see Zach again after having shared long hours with him before at Macey's. He didn't just work hard, but he always looked at every situation with a positive attitude and he was ALWAYS smiling. I never heard him say one negative thing about anything or anyone which is an amazing quality for someone to have. It was just nice to be around Zach because it was easy to see the good guy behind his eyes. Honest, uplifting and always, always helpful. He was very intuitive and would make sure everyone was having a good day, and if they weren't he would go out of his way and take a few minutes to see if there was anything he could do to make their day better. Easy and fun to talk with, Zach just made everyone else's job a little easier and everyone's day a little brighter. He was a breath of fresh air. Zach is greatly missed by friends here, and I know he is being welcomed with big hugs and smiles on the other side. Much love and prayers from our family to yours!
