|
Norman Draeger reunited with his wife the morning of April 16th 2010. After 64 years of marriage it was only 7 months between this world and the next that physically separated their continuing love. Norman was born on March 3rd 1925 in Marion, Wisconsin. In his hometown he participated in various sports and religious studies. At the age of 18, Norman was drafted into the Marines where he was assigned to the Pacific Theater. While stationed in Logan, Utah he fell in love with his wife Margaret Kloepfer. Later they were married in Louisiana before Norman was deployed to the Pacific. After the war they eventually moved to Southern California with their first child Peggy. There, he was an Officer for the LAPD making the rank of Sergeant. In 1960, Norman joined the LDS Church and was sealed to his wife in the Los Angeles Temple. During this time his children Debra, Steven and Linda also blessed his life with their births. After retiring from the LAPD Norman earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees. He taught at local Universities and was offered a job in Hawaii. For the next 3 years he and his wife lived on the Big Island and Maui. They returned to the main land to build a home in the mountains of Gaston, Oregon to be closer to family and later returned to Utah. Norman loved hunting, genealogy, traveling and working hard.
He was a father of 4, Grandfather of 13, Great-Grandfather of 23 and a friend to many. His life has affected many for the better and he will always be missed. With his beautiful wife and where he is now, his famous quote of "I'm smilin now" is sure to have been said more than once on the other side of the veil. Love you Grandpa.
