Ronald Eugene Lowell

December 16, 1953 ~ May 8, 2010

Ronald Eugene Lowell, 56, peacefully returned home to his Heavenly Father on Saturday May 8, 2010.

Ron was born December 16, 1953 in Sendai, Japan to John Clark and Martha Maxine Neeld Lowell. He spent his early years attending school in Japan and stood out from his classmates with his towhead. He loved those years and spoke of them often and fondly.   The family moved to Laie, Hawaii where Ron graduated from Kahuku High School in 1971. Hawaii was one of Ron’s favorite places and held many dear memories.

He served an LDS mission in Kentucky-Louisville Tennessee Mission. His love of the scriptures and testimony grew during these years and continued to bless him and his family for the rest of his life. Ron graduated from Brigham Young University in Chemical Engineering. While at BYU, he met and married Karen Knight in the Logan Temple. Ron worked at Dugway Proving Grounds for 17 years. Ron loved his four children and spent hours attending games, performances and recitals. Any question about classic rock, no matter how trivial, he knew the answer. Ron loved to play chess and enjoyed a challenging match with dear friends. He had a quirky sense of humor, loved to read and spend time with friends, but most of all he loved his family.

Ron is survived by his wife, Karen, children: Holly Ann Wever (Tod), Tommy, Kari Elizabeth, and Kristi. His sisters: Stephanie Reid, Lauretta Lowell, and Calvin Aaron Lowell (Michelle) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: John Clark Lowell and Martha Maxine Neeld Lowell. He will be missed terribly by his two grandsons (and biggest fans), Lennon Tod Wever and Larry Coleman Wever.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at the Slate Canyon 13th Ward Chapel at 1315 East 900 South, Provo, Utah. There will be a viewing Monday, May 10, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 at the church and on Tuesday one half hour prior to services.  Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery under the direction of Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.

Condolences to Karen and the family. Tommy had posted something on Facebook; that is when I found out. I always remember helping the family when Ron's health was bad back in the late 1990's. Just finding the van at the airport parking lot was a trick. But the family were all great. Holly was a special young lady to our family and Tommy, Kari and Kristi were always fun to visit with. Karen, being in education, always had things to talk about. I even kept track of the family after they moved to the Provo High area. Ron was a fine father to all of the kids. Sorry for your loss. After my father passed away, everyone told me to keep the memories close to your heart. That made things better in the tough times. Please know that Karen and the family are in our thoughts.
