It was a sincere pleasure to work with your mother/grandmother for a short season of my life at Maeser Elementary. She was so warm and inviting to me as a substitute. She was a true lady and Latter-Day Saint. May you be comforted in the knowledge that she was a joy to many of us. I know her reward included being embraced back home by her Savior. A wonderful woman!

It was a joy just visiting with Maxine. She was such a sweet lady and always gracious. The last time I visited her was last week when we had a group of children come in and perform. They were darling and Maxine sang along and kept time with the music. She shook hand with all the little childrem and they told her their names. She loved it. Maxine was a good friend to Dorothy and always concerned about her. I will miss her but know that she will happy and well where she is now. My thoughts are with you.

Oh! How I loved that lady! She was such a wonderful friend and teacher-one that can't be replaced and one that will always be remembered. I loved working in her class and watching her give direction and love to the children in class. She made learning so fun that everyone enjoyed being in her class. The education world has lost a great friend. I sure appreciate all the love my family recieved from her. She will be missed.

So many great memories with the Candlands. Greys River camping, being able to spend time with the kids, bridge parties, advise whenever I needed it was always appreciated. What a great lady! I am so glad my kids had such a great start with Max as their first teacher in kindergarten. We were so lucky to have Maxine as a dear friend. Love to the family.

To Maxine and Bill Candland's family: We were so saddened to see the passing of Maxine. What an outstanding couple.
We lived in Montpelier, Idaho from 1972 thru 1982 and knew Bill and Maxine. Maxine was one of the most outstanding teachers, and taught our daughter Kimberly in the First grade. Both were so gracious and kind.
We know Bill passed away also.
May we share a story: The Stake High Priest's were having a social on a small island in the Bear River near Nounan, Idaho, about 1980. We got into canoes, paddled to the island, and Bill would come out on his horse to pull the canoe onto the island so we would not get wet. I (Hope) was in the front of the canoe. For some reason, after Bill started to pull us in, the horse spooked, and reared straight up. It was tipping over backwards, and the direction was onto me and the canoe. I know Bill must have pulled the horse so it went to the right side of the canoe, falling totally onto Bill in the water. He said the water cushioned the impact - but I am sure he was sore. I know he saved me from injury.
We moved from the Bear Lake Valley before they did - but kept updated for a while.
What a grand heritage they left!

I am so sad to hear about Maxine passing. She was one of my favorite teachers at A.J.Winters. It was ironic the other day, my husband was asking me what teachers left an impact in my life and she was one them whose name came up. She will be sorely missed, I have not seen her in years, but she was always in my thoughts along with your dad. There are those people who you never forget especially when they went to the same ward and then was a teacher in so many ways. May your family be at peace.

I just heard about Mrs. Candland. She was not only a great teacher; she was a great neighbor on Circle Drive who always let us kids come over to the house to hang out with her or play in the yard or pick rhubarb. She was very dear to me and she will be missed. My condolences to your family.

It is an honour to found out about such a sweet and intelligent lady. I am distant blood cousin, to her late husband Willis Candland. Willis's great grandfather, was David Candland, born in 1819, highgate middlesex england, and died in 1902, in Utah, USA. David's cousin, Elizabeth Candland (married name Cheadle), was born in 1824, Barlaston, Staffordshire, England. Elizabeth, was my great great great grandmother. Although, i have found Maxine, via her obit, it still is an honour to find out about her. And i send my belated condolences to the family. Best wishes, from across the pond in England. Val and family.
