Ida Colleen Sloan Anderson

March 9, 1927 ~ July 16, 2010

Ida Colleen Anderson, age 83, passed away at her home on Friday, July 16, 2010.  Colleen was surrounded by her husband and family as she returned to her heavenly home.  Colleen was born on March 9, 1927 in Grantsville, Utah to Commodore Sloan and Ida Albertina Assarson.

Colleen attended schools in Grantsville and Tooele, Utah where she spent her early years.  She loved learning piano, riding her pony and spending time with her friends.  Colleen Married Jim Handley on June 1, 1943.  She was later divorced.  She married Aaron William Anderson on May 25, 1960; their marriage was later solemnized in the Mount Timpanogos Temple.

Colleen was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many positions throughout her life.  She was Relief Society President twice, Young Women’s President, and Primary President.  She was a faithful genealogist and spent a great deal of time doing the Lord’s work.  She served a mission at the cannery with her sweetheart Aaron.

Colleen’s passion was taking care of her grandchildren who she truly loved, and that was where she was the happiest.  She had other hobbies too; she played the piano, loved to garden and she had a knack to make anything beautiful.  She loved her dogs and always had one nearby.  Colleen and Aaron also enjoyed spending time at Bear Lake together.

Colleen is survived by her husband Aaron Anderson (Pleasant Grove, UT), three sons; Lary (Nancy) Handley of (SLC, UT), Bruce (Linda) Handley (Pleasant Hill, CA), Robert Handley (Springville, UT), and one daughter Karyn (Kevin) Maag (Highland, Utah); four stepsons: Dean (Donna) Anderson (SLC, UT), Curtis (Bernadette) Anderson (Paige, AZ), Terry (Cyndie) Anderson (SLC, UT),  Dennis Anderson (Mounds, OK); three stepdaughters: Colleen (Milton) Breinholt (WJ, UT), Judy (Ed) Barney (SLC, UT), Linda (Kurt) Brooks (WJ, UT) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 23, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. at the Orchard Ward, 828 South Locust Avenue, Pleasant Grove, Utah.  A viewing will be held from 9 to 10:45 A.M. that morning prior to the funeral services.  Interment will be held at the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com
