Dennis Ralph Smith, 71, of Lindon passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.  He returned to his Heavenly Father, January 15, 2012 in Salt Lake City.

He was born November 27, 1940 in American Fork to Russell and Ruth Irene Johnson Smith.  He married Maxine Green October 7, 1966 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Dennis worked on the family farm, U S Steel and retired as the supervisor over Lindon City Parks in 2002.  He loved his family and enjoyed being outdoors with them.

Dennis can be best described as hard-working, loving, honorable, and strong with the courage to endure to the end.

The family wished to thank Dr. Chun Hwang for the professional care that Dennis received over the last 15 years.  We also thank the U of U Heart Transplant Team and their surgical ICU Staff.

He is survived by his wife Maxine; three children: DeAnn (Kevin) Smith, Amy (Jacob) Kerksiek and Michael (Haley) Smith; 10 grandchildren; siblings: Brent Smith, Joan Hamann, Carol Grosvenor, Arlene Starr and Claudette Hansen.  He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Lindon West Stake Center, 250 West 600 South, Lindon (on 1600 N. Dennis is a gentle faithful man who was good to his word. I knew him to be quietly grand. I enjoyed knowing him. He is of old stock, the kind of maticulous, persevering man hard to find these days. God bless his good, faithful wife and family. Love to you all, Becky hunter

Amy and family,

We only met your dad once or twice, but I have heard you talk about him and write about him, so I know he was a special blessing in your life. Harry and I send our love - and hope that you and your family will find peace and joy in special memories and gospel teachings.

We are so sorry to hear about Dennis. His memory will always be burned into hearts for the friendships we have had with both of you for so many years. We appreciated his service to the city when he was over the parks. We appreciated him spraying our fruit trees each year, and being available each time we needed his help. He was a hard working man, and there for everyone who needed him. We are grateful to have both of you as part of our lives. Love you much, Jerald and Shauna
