May 31, 1913 – January 16, 2012
Zola Mariam Alger Larsen slipped peacefully from this life into the waiting arms of her beloved husband on Monday, January 16, 2012 at the age of 98. What a great reunion she must be having with her eternal companion, her parents, brothers and sister and others gone before. She was born to Samuel Nelson Alger and Julia Adelaide Sanderson Alger May 31, 1913 in Elmo, Utah.
She grew up in Elmo and attended Emery County Schools graduating from North Emery High School in Huntington, Utah. She met Charles M. Larsen in Pioche, Nevada while visiting there with a cousin and they married in the Manti Temple on April 16, 1936. They lived in Emery and Carbon Counties and after retirement moved to Manti, Utah in 1975 where they worked in the Manti Temple for many years. Her husband of almost 57 years passed away on November 20, 1992. About 4 years later, she moved to Fairview, Utah to be closer to her children there. It became necessary for someone to be with her 24 hours a day in the fall of 2008 and it was a privilege for us, her children, to take turns being there to care for her, especially those that lived in Fairview. In August of 2009, she moved to Pleasant Grove to Lakeview Elderly Care and resided there until her passing.
She was a very active and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in numerous callings, including several missions with her husband as well as in the Manti Temple. She was very artistic and talented in sewing, oil painting, drawing and especially in making all the beautiful quilts she made for her children and grandchildren as well as others. She was a good cook and baker and made sure that no one went away hungry. She had beautiful handwriting, and she never stopped in the quest of learning and improving her knowledge in every way. She was always very appreciative of any service rendered on her behalf.
She is survived by 5 children; David E. (Laretta) Bountiful, Utah, Julia Ann Prue (Richard), C. Leon (Carolyn), James L. (Ruth) all of Fairview, Utah, and Wanda J. Taylor American Fork, Utah; 27 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, 14 great, great grandchildren
Proceeded in death by her husband, Charles, her parents; son in law, Spencer L. Taylor; 3 grandchildren, 4 brothers, 1 sister and a son-in-law.
The family give thanks to Lakeview Elderly Care Center for their loving care for almost 2 ½ years. We also want to express our thanks to A-Plus Hospice for their excellent care for the last months of her life.
Services to be held January 23, 2012 at 11:00 am with a viewing an hour before the services in the American Fork East Stake Center,(825 E. 500 N.) American Fork, Utah Interment in the Manti City Cemetery.
