Scott Brent Carter, 58 of Pleasant Grove passed away Monday, July 27, 2009. He was born April 7, 1951 in Salt Lake City to Bob E. and Gladys O. Carter. He married Deborah Ferguson on May 18, 1973 in the Salt Lake Temple. Scott grew up in Orem and graduated from Orem High School in 1969. He served an LDS mission to Cumorah Rochester New York. He is survived by his wife Debbie of Pleasant Grove; seven children: Adam, Rachel (Jeff) Atkinson, Joshua (Aimee), Sarah (Nate) Lloyd, Rebekah (Jared) Hawkins, Zachary, Seth (currently serving in the Raleigh, NC Mission); seven grandchildren; mother, Gladys; siblings: Robert (VaNiece), Blaine (Cristi), Elwood, and Julie (David) Allen. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 11:00 am in the Timpanogos Seven Ward Chapel, 500 N 300 E, Pleasant Grove where family and friends may call for a viewing from 9-10:45am prior to services. "JUST LADUE IT" Lawrence James LaDue, 72, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2009. Larry was born September 12, 1936 to Lawrence John and Hattie Belle LaDue in Forest Grove, Oregon. Larry enlisted in the US Air Force in which he served in Vietnam and from which he retired after 20 years of service He worked as a mechanic and was known for being able to fix almost anything. He loved to help and serve others. He was a quiet, gentle giant who gave the very best bear hugs. He married Shirley Ann Thomas on December 26, 1958 and they were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple in 1963. They had five children and 10 grandchildren of which Larry was very proud and couldn’t help but shed tears of joy upon the smallest of their achievements. Preceded in death by his son, Robert, his parents, and sister, Jeannette Brannon. Survived by his loving wife, Shirley; daughters, Monique Shurtliff, Teresa Peterson (Devon), Terri Smith (Troy), and Jill Fulton (Paul) as well as his beloved grandchildren; Travis, Aaron, Adam, and Robbie Shurtliff; Britney and Lauren Smith; Emily and Jake Peterson; and Tommy and Sam Fulton. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2009, 11 a.m. at the Jacobs Ranch1st Ward Chapel, 276 West Weatherby Drive, Saratoga Springs, Utah. A viewing will precede the service at 9:30 am. Interment will be at Veterans Memorial Park, Bluffdale, Utah. We are grateful to our husband, father, and grandfather for his example and all that he did for us. We will miss him terribly. |

September 15, 1930 ~ July 24, 2009 Bud Wayne Kohler, age 78, of Pleasant Grove, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2009 surrounded by his wife, children and their spouses, after an extended illness. He was born September 15, 1930, in Midway, Utah, to Rex Charles and Estella Paramore Kohler. He married his high school sweetheart Glenna Lindsay on March 23, 1952. In 1979 their marriage was solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple.
Bud graduated from Wasatch High School and from Utah Valley State College in electrical engineering. He served in the Korean War in the 7th Armored Division, 440th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, and was discharged with several honors. Upon returning from the service he and Glenna moved to Pleasant Grove. He was employed at Geneva Steel as an Electrician and retired after 32 years. Bud served in several callings in the LDS church including nine years as the High Priest Group leader. He was a friend and neighbor to all and understood the true nature of service.
Bud had a great love for his wife, family, and friends. Everyone that came in contact with him found instant respect and love. His great passion was the outdoors and he spent many days hunting, fishing, and camping with his family in the mountains above his beloved Midway valley. Bud was an expert in gardening, including grafting several varieties of fruit trees onto one tree. He also enjoyed raising several breeds of exotic sheep. He taught his children to stand together, have a strong work ethic and to love and support each other. He took great pride in the friendships among his children, their spouses and grandchildren. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him many happy days and a mighty legacy. He was a dedicated husband and father, who provided for his family and encouraged our dreams. He was our treasured leader, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. We will miss you Daddy.

Kenneth Neff Brady passed away July 19, 2009 from the effects of ALS. He was born to K Madsen Brady & Faye Neff Brady June 17, 1956 in Salt Lake City. Ken graduated from Jordan High School in 1974. He served an LDS Mission to New York City. He married DeAnne Startup and was later divorced. He married Kristee Lynne Nelson on January 3 1998. “Kristee, you are my rock, my strength, you are the love of my life”. Ken was an active member of the LDS Church and devoted many years of service in various callings such as Primary, Seminary, Elders Quorum, and High Priest Leadership. He is survived by his wife Kristee, their children: Steven, Kenneth, Shannon, Amelia, Michelle, Nicole, Jordan, Kimberlee, Alex, Michael, Daniella, Lauren, and four grandsons. A memorial service will be held Monday, July 27, 2009 at 12:00 noon in the St. George Sunset Stake Center, 82 N Dixie Drive, St. George. Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 28, 2009 at 12:00 noon in the Corner Canyon Stake Center, 1300 East 13400 South, Draper where family and friends may call for a visitation from 9:30-11:45 am. Our beloved mother and friend, Renona May Johnson Candland, 82, of Pleasant Grove passed away quietly in her home on Sunday, July 19, 2009. Renona was born May 2, 1927 in Acequia, Minadoka Co. Idaho, to Leander Calvin Johnson and Mary Jane Whittle Johnson. Renona married her WWII pen pal and love of her live Harry Card Candland Oct 24, 1947 in the Manti, UT Temple. Renona (Dolly) graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and attended BYU. She was a member of the Army Corp of Nurses while pursuing her nursing degree during WWII. She worked for many years as a Practical Nurse, Seamstress at Baileys, and delivered paper for the Deseret News. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served many years teaching primary and as a Den Mother. She also taught primary at the Utah State Developmental Center Branch. Mom loved her family and was proud, not boastful, of her children and grandchildren’s accomplishments. She enjoyed afternoon drives and exploring new places. She was a fixer. She had a subtle sense of humor and often the recipient of her practical joke never realized that she was behind the deed. Mom loved the LDS gospel and always turned to the Lord during times of trial. Her listening ear, love and support will be missed by all, but more so by her family. She is survived by three children: Debora (Stuart) Jackson, Edwin James (Kirsten Sanders), and Laura (Adam) Jones, 8 grandchildren: Jeremy S Jackson, Carisa D Jackson, Angelika M. Jones, Jasmin E. Candland, Jacob A. Jones, Nicholas S. Jones, Allison Candland and James A Candland, sister: Ila June (Eldon) Farnes and brother, Andy W. Johnson. Renona was preceded in death by her sweetheart and husband Harry; sons Henry Bruce and Glen Harry; brothers, Edwin, Marvin and Calvin (JR). Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Timpanogos Third Ward Chapel, 425 East 500 North, Pleasant Grove, Utah. William Robert Whitehead, age 86, died July 15, 2009 in Orem, Utah surrounded by loving family. Born March 15, 1923 in St. George, Utah to William Arthur Whitehead and Clara Myrtle Watson. Married Melbadeane Johnson on Sept 3, 1946 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Pilot during WW II. Graduated from University of Utah with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Worked for Sperry/UNISYS most of his career. He served in many leadership positions in the LDS Church and enjoyed serving in the St. George Temple. Proceeded in death by his sweetheart, Melbadeane. He is survived by three sisters, Melissa Whitehead, MonaRae Nielsen (Bennett), Pat Cobia (David); two sons and a daughter: W. Robert Whitehead (wife Linda) of Sandy; James Dale Whitehead (wife Kathy) of Salt Lake City; Susan Lambson (husband Robert William Lambson) of Pleasant Grove; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be in Salt Lake City, Tuesday, July 21 at 11:00, in the East Millcreek Chapel, 2701 Evergreen Ave. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service. June Louise Phillips Frampton, 71, of Pleasant Grove passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 surrounded by her family. She was born January 6, 1938 in Pleasant Grove, one of eleven children, to William Reed and May Richins Phillips. She married her high school sweetheart, John R. Frampton on July 22, 1954 in Manila. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. June grew up in Pleasant Grove and attended school there. She was an active member of the LDS Church. She worked at Hart’s in Pleasant Grove and sold Avon Products for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Family was the most important thing in her life and she especially loved camping at the family property. June enjoyed handwork and helped her husband John organize, build and operate the old “Roundabout Raceway” in Pleasant Grove. She is survived by her husband John of Pleasant Grove; seven children: Kim (Marla) Frampton, Kerry (Peggy) Frampton, Kelly (Kayle) Hicks, Kirk (Lori) Frampton, Kristy Fuhr, Kathy Edwards, Kayleen (Shane) Park; 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and many loving extended family. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Timpanogos Ward Chapel, 500 North 300 East, Pleasant Grove. Jill Christensen Erekson, our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandma, aunt, and friend was called home to our Heavenly Father on July 13, 2009, being greeted by loved ones with open arms much sooner than we had wished. Jill was born to William G. Christensen and Georgia Dade Christensen on September 7, 1957 in Salt Lake City, the fourth of five children. Jill graduated from American Fork High School in 1975. Jill married the love of her life and soulmate, Tim Meredith Erekson on November 28, 1975. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on August 8, 1979 for time and all eternity. They made their home in Highland, Utah and raised four beautiful children together. Jill accomplished many things in her life. She will be remembered for filling our hearts and lives with love and laughter as she mentored many people throughout her life. She taught her children through her example with all her talents and inspiration that will live on in our lives forever. Jill has been the seed in our home that will forever stay bloomed. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and truly loving mother. Her sunshine will be deeply missed by all. WE LOVE YOU! She is survived by her husband Tim Meredith Erekson; children: Tammy Erekson (Jon); T. J. Our dear sweet mother, grandmother and friend Berneice Atkinson Wadley returned to her Heavenly Father at age 99 on Friday 10, 2009. She was born May 11, 1910 in Francis, Utah to Thomas A. Atkinson and Nora Pace Atkinson an only girl with five brothers. Berneice was 16 years old when the family moved to Pleasant Grove and she graduated from high school there. She married Nyal F. Wadley on June 17, 1931 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived on their farm in Manila north of Pleasant Grove where they worked hard making the farm beautiful and productive; built a loving home and raised 5 children. The farm was very tidy and clean where lots of apples, hay and sheep were raised. Berneice has always been very diligent and a hard worker, and taught her children to do the same. She was an excellent cook and homemaker and her gardens were always so very beautiful. She especially wanted her children to love music, play the piano and to be good students in school. Her youngest son was handicapped and much of her life in the later years was devoted to him, his health and happiness. She was passionate in helping others with handicapped or special needs children. Her husband, children, grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren were her pride and joy. Mother has been a very strong person to carry on in support of her family and live independently for the past 29 years. She cherished her friends who were so kind to her. Berneice was always a very faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints her entire life. Berneice is survived by three children; Doris W. Jorgensen (Robert), Provo; Don F. Wadley (Brenda), Pleasant Grove, and Jack E. Wadley (Bonnie) Lehi. She has 19 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nyal, daughter, Nyla Wilkinson Yeoman and son Stanley Gene Wadley, her parents and brothers, Gordon, Thelbert, Eugene, Kenneth and Adrain. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS First ward chapel in Manila at 3396 North 900 West across the street east from the Wadley Farm. A viewing for family and friends will be at that same chapel, Monday night from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday morning. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Doug Carlton of Lindon, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away Sunday, July 5, 2009 surrounded by family and friends after a valiant battle with emphysema. Doug was born January 2, 1943 in Bay Minette, Alabama. He married Gayleen Bullock on October 28, 1967 in Orem. Doug grew up in Orem and attended schools there. He served in the U. S. Navy for 5 years and worked 32 years for Geneva Steel. Doug’s true passions were being outdoors and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Gayleen; three children: Justin; Amanda (Joe) Hutchings, and Calvin (Lisa); grandchildren: Sidney, Hunter, Sierra, Aspen; step-father, Robert Branin; six siblings: Linda Johnson, Dwayne Branin, Malin Branin, Judy Adams, and Howard Branin. He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna and sister, Lorraine Jacobs. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Old Lindon Chapel, 10 North Main Street, Lindon.
