Shirley Maude Berkhimer Seegmiller

May 20, 1923 ~ June 21, 2010

Shirley B. Seegmiller, 87, of Pleasant Grove passed away Monday, June 21, 2010 surrounded by her family.  Shirley was born May 20, 1923 in Boulder, CO to Mark E. and Thelma Rea Berkhimer.  She married Woodrow Adams Seegmiller on May 20, 1948 in Provo.  Woody passed away in 1987. 

 

Shirley had a great love for animals and worked at the Alpine Animal Hospital for almost 40 years.   She was an LPN and retired from Utah Valley Hospital after 25 years of service.   She loved collecting rocks, elephants, and stray animals. She was a huge fan of old movies, especially John Wayne and other action heroes. 

 

She is survived by her two sons: Daniel Mark (Danielle) Seegmiller, Pleasant Grove; Scott A. (Jeannine) Seegmiller, Emery County; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, Sheri R. Paisley.  

 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Mahogany First Ward Chapel, 1542 North 1300 West, Pleasant Grove.  Family and friends may attend a viewing at the church prior to services from 9-10:45 am.  Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com. 

 

 
Maxine Robinson Fugal

January 23, 1920 ~ June 20, 2010

Maxine R. Fugal was born to Lot and Lucille Robinson of American Fork, Utah.  Maxine was raised in American Fork attending elementary and secondary school there.  She went on to USU, and after raising her family returned to BYU to finish her degree.  She taught elementary school for 16 years.  Upon retirement she served three missions: Tallahassee, Florida; Atlanta Georgia Temple and the Dallas Texas Temple for the LDS church. 

 

Maxine married Jean A. Fugal in the Salt Lake Temple.  They are the parents of five children, Paul (Louanne) Fugal; Karen (Glenn) Peterson; Mac (Pat) Fugal; Colleen (Jim) Starr and Anne (Ray) Pollmann.  They have 17 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. 

 

Maxine has been active in the LDS church her whole life, serving in nearly all ward and stake positions for women.  She was a temple ordinance worker for many years.  She and Jean recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with all five children and their spouses by their side.

 

Funeral serivces will be held at the Timpanogos First Ward, 475 East 500 North, Pleasant Grove on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Friends and relatives may honor her for one hour prior to the service.  There will also be a viewing at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove on Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Interment will be at the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com

 

 
Keith Schwartz

July 28, 1922 ~ June 19, 2010

Keith Schwartz, 87, of Lindon, long-time resident of Fontana, California, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010, surrounded by loved-ones. He was born July 28, 1922 in Payson, Utah, to Paul Eugene Schwartz and Ida Davis.

Keith grew up in Benjamin, Utah. When he was 18 he moved to San Bernardino, California, where he met his future wife Doris Elaine Ingold while employed at Morrow Aircraft Company. Prior to their marriage, Keith served two years in the European Theater with the U. S. Army in World War II. Upon Keith’s return, he married his sweetheart, Doris Elaine in Fontana, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

 

After graduating from the California College of Mortuary Science in 1947, Keith managed, and later owned, Ingold Chapel Funeral Home, for forty years. As a businessman Keith was involved in many community organizations.

 

Keith was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as counselor in a Bishopric, Bishop, High Councilor, and Stake Mission leader. He enjoyed work, building and flying airplanes, working on any repair or remodeling project, and being with his family. We will all miss Grandpa’s melodious whistling, laughter and those beautiful blue eyes.

 

He is survived by his wife Doris Elaine, Lindon; and three children, Elaine Kay (Charles) Cripps, Pinon Hills, CA; son Larry (Amelia) Schwartz, Lindon; Randy Schwartz, Orem; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Glade Schwartz, of Spanish Fork.

Byron Duke

September 22, 1925 ~ June 19, 2010

Byron Duke, 84, of Pleasant Grove passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010.  He was born September 22, 1925 in Provo to Heber and Mary LaVern Duke.  He married Ruth Taylor on June 9, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple.

 

He grew up in Provo and graduated from Provo High and attended BYU.  He joined the US Army Air Corp and served in WWII, during that time he was stationed in China.  He was an exceptional wood worker, welder and present wrapper.  He served as president of the UBBA Little League Baseball in Pleasant Grove for many years.  He loved to golf and loved the cub-scouting program.  His greatest love was for his family. He was lovingly cared for by his wife, Ruth throughout the last 61 years.  

 

Byron is survived by his wife, Ruth; children, Denise (Mel) Radmall; Pamela (Lane) Scott; Kelly (Cori) Duke; sister, Louise Eaton; 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by parents and two sisters.

Lela Myers West

May 6, 1923 ~ June 16, 2010

Lela Myers West, age 87, passed away June 16 in the American Fork Hospital surrounded by her family.  Lela was born to Victor Floyd Myers and Lenora Butt Myers in American Fork, and lived in the same home in Pleasant Grove for 61 years.  She married Thomas E. West in Heber, Utah on February 28, 1941, raising two children and four grandchildren.  Lela was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, beloved daughter Diane West Hiatt, and two infant grandsons.  Lela is survived by her loving sister Irene Limb of American Fork, son Douglas West (Petrea) of American Fork, grandsons David Hiatt (Judy) of Fallbrook, California and Benjamin West (Michelle) of Salt Lake City, granddaughters Lisa Hamilton (Bryan) of St. George and Anna West of Salt Lake City, and by nine great grandchildren.

Lela was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter of Day Saints and practiced her faith modestly and gracefully.  She spent her adult life making her home a warm, spotless, welcoming place for family and friends, and will be sorely missed by all whose lives she touched.

Memorial Services will be held at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 11:00 AM.  Family and friends may call an hour before the services.  Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Maxine Beth Sommers Candland

August 27, 1936 ~ June 16, 2010

Maxine Beth Sommers Candland, 73, of Lindon, Utah passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010 surrounded by her children.  She was born August 27, 1936 in Afton, Wyoming to Elmer and Wanda Warren Sommers.  She married Willis G. Candland on May 21, 1960 in Ogden, Utah.   Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. 

 

Maxine grew up Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1954.  She graduated from Weber College with an Associates Degree in 1956 and later from Utah State University with a B. S. in Education in 1958.  She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega at Utah State.  After graduation, she moved to Palo Alto, California and worked at Stanford University.  While in California, she met the love of her life Bill, who was stationed in the area with the Marine Corp.  In 1959, Maxine began her 42 year teaching career in Utah and Idaho schools.  She retired while teaching at Maeser Elementary School in the Provo School District in 2001.  Although she received many awards and recognitions for her teaching, touching the lives of the students she taught was her greatest accomplishment.    

 

Maxine was active in many civic and church callings in both Montpelier, Idaho and Utah County.

 

She is survived by her three children: Catherine (Carlton) Doe, Flower Mound, TX; Cristin (Philip) Owsley, Bozeman, MT and John (Mary) Candland, Cedar Hills, UT; 10 grandchildren; three sisters and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the Lindon West Stake Center, 250 West 600 South (1600 North, Orem), Lindon, Utah.  Family and friends may attend a viewing prior to services at the church from 9:00-10:30 a.m.  Interment will be in Lindquist Memorial Gardens, Ogden, Utah.

Bonnie Marie LeFevre Lamoreaux

"Together Again"

June 20, 1923 ~ May 31, 2010

Bonnie Marie LeFevre Lamoreaux was reunited with her eternal companion Robert “Bob” Lamoreaux on May 31. 2010.  At the time of her passing she was living in American Fork, UT. 

She was born in Panguitch, Utah, on June 20, 1923.  Bonnie grew up in Panguitch and was sealed to Bob Lamoreaux on June 25, 1949, in the St. George, UT.  LDS Temple.  They raised their family primarily in El Centro, CA. Bonnie was always active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life.  She was an avid quilter, genealogist, and temple attendee.  Prior to Bob’s passing in 1990, they served together in the Los Angeles, CA temple.  This was a particularly happy time for them.  Following Bob’s passing, Bonnie went on to serve full time temple missions in Chicago, Washington D. C., and Orlando.  She returned and lived with her daughter in St. George, UT, where she continued to serve at the temple as well as volunteering at Beehive Clothing two days per week. 

For the past 1 ½ years Bonnie has lived in the Heritage Care Center in American Fork, UT.  We would like to express our love and appreciation for the kind and caring people who helped our mom during this time.  She developed friendships with others she lived with as well as those who cared for her.  Thank you. 

Bonnie was preceded in death by a son, Gordon, and her husband, Bob.  She is survived by her other children: Lyle (Connie), Craig (Connie), Karen (Ken Robinson), Mel (Margo), and Dave (Gail).  She is also survived by one sister, Margaret Woolsey, and one brother, Ike LeFevre, 21 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.  Mom, you will be missed, but your example and legacy will live forever in us.

Gigi Michelle Loy Elegante

September 14, 1962 ~ June 5, 2010

Gigi Michelle Loy Elegante, age 47, passed away on June 5, 2010 in Sterling Idaho. Gigi was born on September 14, 1962 in Provo Ut. She is survived by her husband, Rick Roberts, two children,  Amy Elegante and Josh Elegante; parents,  Bill and Joy Loy; sisters, Linda Bye, (Joseph E.); Traci Grenny; brother, Billy Loy; granddaughter, Brooklyn Elegante, as well as many friends and relatives.

 

 Gigi was a joyful woman who brought out the best in everyone around her. Well known for her laughter and adventurous spirit.  She enjoyed dancing, horseback riding and fishing. Gigi had a tremendous love for animals especially her two dogs Chaquita and Zorro. Gigi enjoyed working for local businesses such as Mountain Toppers, R.C.Willey and Nestle.

 

Funeral services will be held Thursday June 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.  at the Lakeview 7th Ward LDS Chapel,  155 West 1600 South,  Orem, UT.  A viewing will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, and one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday.  Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Leonard F O'Dell (Digger)

June 25, 1927 ~ June 6, 2010

Leonard F O’Dell (Digger) our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on June 6, 2010 from pneumonia.  He was born June 25, 1927 in Joplin, MO to Alvin Wesley and Leona Starr O’Dell.  He married his sweetheart, Evelyn Glenda Draper on August 9, 1952, in Fresno, CA.  They moved to Utah where he worked at Geneva Steel for 33 years.  Leonard served honorably in the U.S. Army and the U. S. Navy. 

 

He is survived by his wife, one son and four daughters, Christie (Dennis) Reimschussel, American Fork; Carole (Dale) Bartholomew, (Springville); Wesley Leonard O’Dell, American Fork;  KayLynn (David) Hale, North Salt Lake and Gina (Brad) Dedrickson, Salem. 26 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Claiborne, CA.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, 2 sisters, his daughter, Cathy Mae and a grandson, Luke. 

 

We will miss him.  He is our rock with a heart of gold.

Robert "Bob" William Fotheringham

September 14, 1929 ~ June 5, 2010

Robert “Bob” William Fotheringham, 80, of Lindon, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010.  He was born September 14, 1929 in Eureka to Otto C. and Leona Stickney Fotheringham. He was the sixth of eight children.  He married Lorna Hafen, September 5, 1952 in Springville, they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple; they have enjoyed 57 years together.

 Bob served in the US Navy on a destroyer ship as a gunners mate in the Korean War. He met his sweetheart Lorna on leave and she waited for his return. He worked for Geneva Steel and owned and operated Bob’s Deep Steam Carpet Cleaning for over 30 years.  He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and spending time at his cabin. 

 

Bob is survived by his wife, Lorna, four children, Bob (Debra), AF; Sherry (Roy) Jensen, AF; Kelly (Julie), AF; Laurie (Russ) Shelton, Lehi; one brother, Bert (Carol) AF; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers. 

 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lindon First Ward Chapel, 56 E. 600 N., Lindon.  Friends and family may call Tuesday, June 8, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 S. 300 E., Pleasant Grove, and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.  Interment will be in the Lindon City Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 72.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com

 

 

 
Ralph Reed Moulton

February 21, 1922 ~ May 31, 2010

Ralph Reed Moulton, 88, passed away at his home in Pleasant Grove, Utah on May 31, 2010. Born February 21, 1922 in Provo, Utah, the son of Nephi and Mathilde Moulton. At the age of 1 he moved with his family to Jackson, Wyoming where he lived the next 50 years as a cattleman at the foot of his beloved Tetons. On July 9, 1965 he was married to Alida (Leah) Escobar in the Idaho Falls Temple. In 1974 Ralph moved his family to Twin Bridges, Montana where he continued in the cattle industry into the late 1980s. The next 20 years he spent traveling to various parts of the world, most often to Hawaii which he came to love very dearly. In 2000 he moved to Pleasant Grove, UT.

Ralph was active in the LDS church in many callings, including ward clerk for 15 years. He loved working with the youth as shown through his 14 years of service with 4-H and 10 years with the Boy Scouts of America. Ralph was a member of the Toastmasters International, Rotary International, and Sons of Norway.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Leah, children Liz Maxfield, Ben Moulton, Jennifer Read, and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday June 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove. Viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 and Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 prior to services. Burial will be in the Heber City Cemetery.
