Mark Arlynn Radmall

July 30, 1931 ~ March 28, 2010

Mark Arlynn Radmall, 78 of Mesquite, Nevada passed away on Sunday March 28, 2010 in Las Vegas, NV. Mark was born July 30, 1931 in Pleasant Grove Utah to Millen D. Radmal l and Margaret Rose Bezzant Radmall. He married the love of his life Nancy Mae Hupe on February 18, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple.

 

Mark grew up in Pleasant Grove and Graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1949, Mark was a devoted member of the LDS church and served a mission to the Northern States Mission. Mark was an Army veteran of the Korean War Era and served in Germany during that time. He loved serving others and was a ward clerk for 21 years and served with four different Bishops. His favorite calling was serving in the Bishopric of the Edgemont 14th ward. Mark was a gifted real estate developer and home builder. He built many condominiums and homes throughout the valley and later in Nevada. He was a past President of the Utah Valley Home Builders Association and was selected as “Builder of the Year” in 1977.

 

Mark is survived by his four children: Mark Radmall Jr, St. George, Gary (Paolina) Radmall, Las Vegas, NV. Christine (Craig) Matthews, Austin, Texas. Lynn (Krista) Radmall, Lehi, Utah. 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Siblings: Margaret (Clarence) Rindfleisch, Grant (Ruth) Radmall, Paul (Sherma) Radmall. Mark was preceded in death by his lovely wife Nancy and son Dan W. Radmall.

 

Funeral services will be Saturday April 3, 2010 at 12 Noon at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah.  A viewing will be held one hour prior to services on Saturday. Matthew Kip Kelly

September 30, 1982 ~ March 24, 2010

Matthew Kip Kelly, 27, of Pleasant Grove passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010.  Matt was born September 30, 1982 in American Fork to Michael Sam and Janiece Kay Magnusson Kelly. 

 

Matt grew up in Pleasant Grove and attended schools there.  Matthew was well read and had a clever sense of humor, always making everyone laugh.  He loved football and enjoyed watching BYU and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  He had an in-depth knowledge of the game.  Matt enjoyed a wide range of music from rock-n-roll to classical.   He was very proud of his Irish heritage and dreamed of making a trip to Ireland.  Matthew had friends from every walk of life whom he loved and they loved him. 

 

He is survived by his parents of Pleasant Grove; two sisters, Bethany (Ryan) Longenecker, Las Vegas and Melanie (Brad) Whaley, Raleigh, NC; nephew, Jaden; nieces: Alissa, Alexis, and Adelyn; grandmother, Aranka Kelly, Muskogee, OK. 

 

Matthew was preceded in death and reunited with his beloved brother Sam (passed away Oct. 27, 2006) and also by his grandparents, James and Marge Magnusson and Sam Kelly. 

 

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.  Friends and family may attend a viewing from 12:30-2:45 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.

Chris Edward Asay

December 23, 1965 - March 22, 2010

Our loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend Chris E. Asay, passed away at his home in Kaysville, UT on March 22, 2010.

 

He is survived by his wife, Becky, and his children, Alexis, Andrew, Shauna and Amanda.  Also by his brothers and sisters, Rebecca Topham, David Asay, Randy Asay, Connie Wigginton, Larry Asay, Celiene Avila, Collette Asay and Suzanne Grimes.

 

 A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held at the 7th ward building, 300 E. 500 N., Pleasant Grove, on Saturday, March 27 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.  Feel free to share a good story or an experience you have had with Chris at the memorial gathering.

Mae Young Hickman

July 9, 1915 ~ March 23, 2010

Mae Hickman joined her husband, Billie A. Hickman Sr., in the Celestial Kingdom on March 23, 2010. 

 

She is survived by her three children: Billie A. (Arla) Hickman, Provo; Ray (Barbara) Hickman, Ft. Collins, CO and Deon Jensen (Carolyn), South Jordan; 19 grandchildren and many loving great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Billie Sr. and daughter, Sydney Hardy.

Dr. Kenneth C Bullock

September 8, 1918 ~ March 22, 2010

Dr. Kenneth C Bullock, PhD, age 91, passed away on 22, March 2010 in Bountiful, Utah due to health conditions related to his age.  He lived at the Country Care Center in Farmington for the past 5 ½ years.  The family would like to thank Lakeview Hospital and Legacy Health Care Hospice for their care and support in making him comfortable during his last days.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.   

 

He was born on Sept. 8, 1918 at the family residence in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Ken was the second child of five children of Irving Bullock and Cora Mirinda Carlson.  He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and Seminary in 1936.  He married his high school sweetheart, Annie Alena Gardiner, Sept 8, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  She died  in Dec. 1998.  He is survived by their four children; Kenneth G (Carolyn) Bullock of Woods Cross, Utah; Virginia (Bruce) {deceased} Konell of Damascus, Oregon; Mary Anne (Lynn) Jenson of Lawndale, California and Sherilyn (Richard) Meldrum of Kaysville, Utah; 20 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

 

In 1936 he enrolled at Brigham Young University, and graduated in 1940 with a B.S. degree in geology.  In the fall of that year he received a graduate scholarship as a laboratory teaching assistant, and graduated in 1942 with a M.A. degree in geology.  He attended the University of Wisconsin for two years with scholarships and graduated with PhD in geology in June 1949.  He served as a naval officer for two years during World War II.

 

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Some of his church callings include; a teacher, Ward Clerk, Superintendent of the Young Men’s Mutual Improvement Association, Bishop of the Provo Ninth Ward, a member of the High Counsel, and later the Second Counselor in the Provo East Stake Presidency.  He was an ordinance worker and sealer in the Provo LDS temple for many years.  He was an avid genealogist.  He researched, compiled, edited and published four family genealogical books on his pioneer ancestry and their descendants.

 

Dr. Bullock was a member of the Department of Geology at Brigham Young University for 40 years, and served as Department Chairman for 6 years.  He taught mineralogy, petrology and economic geology.  His research efforts were directed mainly to mineral occurrences and ore deposits, and his publications are numerous.  He was also a consultant for both State and Federal agencies, and a number of industrial organizations.  Upon retirement he donated his private collections of over 2,000 rocks and mineral specimens to the Geology Department at BYU.  He and his wife also established a permanent scholarship fund for the Geology Department Majors.

 

A viewing will be held between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM (noon) on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, UT  84062 with a graveside service to be held following the viewing at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Joseph Boyd Seely

July 31, 1923 ~ March 15, 2010

Boyd Seely passed away peacefully surrounded by family March 15, 2010.  He was born July 31, 1923 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Ruel H. and Anna Eula Jorgensen Seely.  Boyd grew up in Mt. Pleasant.  After graduation he attended Snow College in Ephraim.  He then served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a B-24 Heavy Bomber gunner.  At age 24, he accepted a call to serve a LDS mission in the Western Canadian mission.  After his mission, he returned to Canada bringing home his sweetheart Patricia Clark.  They were married on September 14, 1950.  Patty his sweetheart passed away Jan. 27, 1978.  Boyd and Patty had 4 children; Joe, Michelle, Jeannette, and an adopted son Robert.

Boyd then renewed old acquaintances with Betty Sumsion Darden.  They married on Feb 6, 1979.  Boyd worked at Geneva Steel for over 40 years and lived in Pleasant Grove since 1950.  He was actively involved with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the community.  He loved gardening, singing, horses, and his family.  He leaves a grand legacy; 4 children, Joe (Joan) Seely, Michelle (H) Nielsen, Jeannette (Kraig) Higginson, and Robert (Ann Marie) Seely; 3 step sons; Jim (Jeanette)Darden, John (Chris) Darden, Bill Darden; 26 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren; sisters Leone (Ross) Smith and Helen (J.H.)Harvey.   He was preceded in death by Patty (wife), sibings Dale, Morris, Claire, Eva Adella, granddaughter KeriLynn Nielsen, great-granddaughter Olivia Loveless, and step-son Andrew Darden.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove Manila Stake Center, 950 East 850 North, American Fork (next to the Mt. Timpanogos Temple).  Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Monday one hour prior to services.  Interment will be held that same day in the Mt. Phyllis May Nelson Radmall

January 30, 1928 ~ March 15, 2010

"Together Again"

 

 

Phyllis May Nelson Radmall, 82, of Pleasant Grove passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 15, 2010.  She was born January 30, 1928 in Lehi to Alfred Victor and Alta May Smith Nelson.  She married Alma Reed Radmall on August 28, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple.  Reed passed away in 1999.  

 

Phyllis grew up in Pleasant Grove and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1946.  Phyllis was a devoted member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many callings.  She and Reed enjoyed serving as missionaries to the Employment Center in American Fork.  Phyllis enjoyed reading, crocheting, and reading scriptures on her iPod.  She and Reed enjoyed traveling during their retirement years.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

 

She is survived by her two children: Terry Ann (Bob) Chandler, Orem and Mel (Denise) Radmall, American Fork; eight grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; siblings: Anna (Reed) James, Ross (Luwana) Nelson and Judith Sorenson.   She was preceded by in death by her husband Reed, sister, Kathleen Briggs, brother, Lamar Nelson and great-grandson, Brock Robert Albiston. 

 

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Grove Creek Fourth Ward Chapel, 942 North 500 East, Pleasant Grove.   Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Friday one prior to services.  Interment will be in Timpanogos Memorial Gardens in Orem.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.  

 

 

 
Joan Garner Paramore

November 5, 1923 ~ March 2, 2010

Joan Garner Paramore passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Friday, March 12, 2010.  She was born November 5, 1923 in Logan, the second of six children, to Ray Douglas and Alice Zollinger Garner.  She married Rulon Coltrin Paramore, November 16, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple.  They had been married for 49 years when Rulon passed away in 1994.  She has now rejoined her eternal companion.  They spent many years enjoying traveling in their motor home and the association with Good Sam Friends.   She also appreciated and loved her friends from Kultura, Friendship Club and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.  She was raised in a loving and musical family.  She loved to sing and play the piano.  She also enjoyed hearing her father and brother’s sing.  She spent many years working in the Primary Organization of the LDS Church as both Ward and Stake Chorister.  She had numerous callings through the years and always did her best at whatever she was asked to do . 

 

She is survived by her children: Michael (Ora) Paramore, Linda (Danny) Pender, Andreah (Devon) Brady, Patricia (Jim) Haun, Susanne Ishmael, Cynthia Reynolds, Peggy (Brad) Symes and Randy (Cindy) Paramore; 27 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; siblings: Carmen Garner, Glenna Mickelson, Douglas Garner, Val Garner and John A. Garner and many loving extended family.   

 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Crescent Ninth Ward Chapel, 10375 South 630 East, Sandy.  The viewing will be held prior to services from 10-10:45 a.m.  Interment will be later the same day in Parowan Utah.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.  Services under the direction of Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove.

 

 
Phyllis Clark Banks

July 9, 1924 ~ March 8, 2010

Phyllis Clark Banks, 85, of Pleasant Grove passed away March 8, 2010 at the American Fork Hospital.

 

She was born July 9, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Monroe Harrison and Josephine Owen Clark, growing up in Thatcher, Arizona where her father was president of the local college. She was always a very bright student and an involved participant in school activities. She served as a student body officer and graduated as the valedictorian of her senior class in 1942.

 

She completed two years at Gila Jr. College in Thatcher, graduating as the “most valuable student,” before enrolling at Brigham Young University where she earned a teaching degree in English, graduating cum laude in 1946.

 

On June 18, 1946, Phyllis married her high school sweetheart, Willis Merrill Banks, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple after his return from serving in Europe during World War II. Together they raised a family of four children, two boys and two girls.

 

In 1952 the family moved to Pleasant Grove, Utah where Willis had accepted a teaching position. Phyllis was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many positions, often associated with young adults, including teaching the Mia Maids and serving as Stake Age-Group Counselor in the YWMIA. She played the piano and participated in singing groups and was active in the local Cadmus Club.

 

In 1964, she was hired as the librarian and media specialist at Orem Jr. High School, opening and organizing the new library. She thoroughly enjoyed her 22 years there, and was one of the first to work with computers, cataloguing all of the books and introducing the new computer check-out system.

 

After retirement, she and Willis traveled the country in their motor home visiting family, or spent time at home working in their gardens and involved in church activities. Phyllis always especially enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

 

Survivors include children, Linda Banks, Laguna Niguel, CA; Dr. Alan M. (Sharon)Banks, Highland; Dr. David C. (Shauna) Banks, Mesa, Arizona and Jolene Jenkins, Goodyear, Arizona; thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis, in 1998, her parents, a brother, Robert, and a sister, Colleen.

 

Funeral services will be held, Saturday, March 20th at 11:00 a.m. in the Timpanogos 3rd Ward Chapel, 520 N., 400 E., Pleasant Grove. Andrew Robertson Birrell

Together Again

August 1, 1926 ~ March 9, 2010

Andrew Robertson Birrell Jr., 83, of Highland passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 9, 2010.  He was born August 1, 1926 in Salt Lake City to Andrew R. and Thora Christensen Birrell.  He married Patricia J. Bryan on November 20, 1949.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple by President Thomas S. Monson. 

Patricia passed away in 2003.

 

Andy grew up in Salt Lake and graduated from West High School.  He served in the U. S. Army during the later part of WWII.  He graduated from the University of Utah in 1954 with a degree in Business.  With his cousin Bill, and brother, Joe; Andy owned and operated Birrell Bottling Company in Provo, Salina, Roosevelt, and had an interest in Admiral Beverage, operating in several states.  Birrell’s bottled 7-Up, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, Squirt, Hires Root Beer, and other soft drinks. 

 

Andy was an active member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many callings.  He enjoyed his time serving as an Ordinance Worker in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. 

 

Andy enjoyed raising 22 AKC Champion show dogs, raising and racing pigeons an Intermountain and Utah Champion running quarter horses.

 

Andy is survived by three children: Patricia A. (Larry) Huntsman, Pleasant Grove; Douglas B. (Charlyn) Birrell, Sandy; Kevin A. (Carolyn) Birrell, Lehi; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; brothers: Donald R. Birrell, CA and Joe R. (Betty) Birrell, Highland. 

 

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Alpine Tenth Ward Chapel, 285 North Matterhorn Drive (850 West) in Alpine.  Family and friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Monday one hour prior to services.  Interment will be in the American Fork City Cemetery will military honors conducted by American Legion Post 72.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.

Jason Archibald Brown

September 28, 1984 ~ March 2, 2010

3…2…1…0…LIFT-OFF!

 

On March 2nd, 2010 Jason Archibald Brown had his lift-off and began a new adventure. 

 

Jason was born September 28th, 1984 to MaryLee and Daniel Von Brown in Wheat Ridge, Colorado and is the younger brother of Scotty and Mike.  Jason’s love for life is contagious to all around him.  His passion for carpentry, welding and creating beautiful things with his hands is unmatched and easily seen by everyone.  Jason’s natural gift of making everyone feel special and motivating them in a gentle and positive way, makes everyone want to be around him.  He has always been the life of the party and so much fun to be around.

 

Jason married the love of his life, Bailey Paige Jones, on July 25th, 2009.

 

They moved to Phoenix where Jason has been working for the past 4 years as a Telecom Technician for Wireless Systems.  He can fix, rig and build anything for anyone and it’s always so fun to watch him work.  He is notorious for putting his whole heart into everything.

 

Along with his work, Jason loves to go on walks, play Nintendo, go bowling with his “SpongeBob Bikini Bottom” bowling league buddies, go camping and shooting, listening to music with his ‘kick-butt’ stereo subwoofer, snuggling with Bailey, and riding with Bailey on his bike.  He loves learning new things, loves a challenge and, of course, loves to watch SpongeBob. J

 

Jason, you’re the absolute BEST and we love you more than anything.  Thanks for always putting me first.

Services will be held Tuesday, March 9th at 1:00 pm at the LDS Lakeridge Chapel, 665 South 200 West in Orem, Utah.  Visitation at 11:30 am.  Interment will be in the Provo Eastlawn Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com
