Raye was born July 28, 1940 in Las Vegas, Nevada to John Dennis and Elma Knight Freelove. She married Ellis “DeLoy” Larson on March 9, 1957. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St George Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. DeLoy passed away in 2011.
Raye grew up in Goodsprings, Nevada and attended school in a one-room schoolhouse. The family later moved to St. George where she completed her education. She and DeLoy made their first home in Washington, Utah and later moved to Pleasant Grove where she and DeLoy owned and operated Larson’s Ornamental Iron.
Raye was known for her compassionate service and many people referred to Raye as the “Relief Society Lady”. She was especially known for her funeral potatoes and willingness to serve for every Pleasant Grove First Ward Funeral. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and was an avid sports fan, especially watching BYU and the Utah Jazz.
