Carl Albert Bahr

May 18, 1946 ~ August 17, 2019 (age 73)

Carl Albert Bahr, 73, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019 in Provo, Utah after battling serious health conditions. He was born May 18, 1946 in Ontario, Oregon to William Martin Bahr and Ruth Mitchell. He spent some of his childhood years in Payette, Idaho and Saratoga Springs; his teen years in Lehi, Utah of which he had many fond memories; and most of married life in Pleasant Grove, Utah. While still in high school Carl joined the Army National Guard and went to Fort Ord, California for his basic training. Graduating from Lehi High School in 1965 he went on to study computer science at BYU as well as continuing to serve in the National Guard. He completed six years of service to our country.

He married Renda Lynn Smith in 1965. Together they raised two children, Karl Eric and Kristina Lyn, and gained a granddaughter, Kylie Lynn, who became the light of his life. Carl retired from being a machine mechanic due to a back injury. He loved rocks and going rockhounding as well as being a member of a rock club. His nieces and nephews knew when they visited Uncle Carl he would show them his collection and help them begin a collection of their own. His retirement gave him time to make beautiful jewelry from unique rocks found from around the world. He had a great appreciation of the outdoors and loved to share that with family members when they went fishing. Carl enjoyed playing men's softball and had a great pitching arm. His family often heard him playing his guitars as music was another great love. He often listened to Jazz in which he would hum and sing along. While a teen in Lehi he became known for his performance in the school play "Oklahoma." Many of his siblings commented on his talent.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and shared his love for the Savior and others through small acts of kindness and generosity.
Carl is survived by his wife, Renda Lynn; son, Karl Eric; daughter, Kristina Lyn; and granddaughter, Kylie Lynn. Also survived are brothers and sisters: Marva Jean (Rodney) Griffin of St. George, Utah; William Alan (Connie) Bahr of Orem, Utah; Sharon (Darwin) Bergeman of Blanding, Utah; (Marcia Bahr) of Bedford, Wyoming;  (Kathy Bahr) of Lehi, Utah; Donald (Patricia) Bahr of South Jordan, Utah; and Marilyn (Arthur Delbert) Walters of Rialto, California.
