Casey Don Gunnell, 34, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2019. While he struggled with addiction during his life, he fought hard to change and was clean when he died.
Casey was born on September 5, 1985, in Nashville, Tennessee, the third child of Kim (Novas) and Douglas Gunnell. He grew up in American Fork, Utah, and was the first of his siblings to graduate high school in 2003.
Casey was a risk taker who enjoyed the company of women and buddies with a good sense of humor. He was a talented artist and was very passionate about sports, especially snowboarding, and even entertained ideas of going pro as a teen.
Exercise and fashion were very important to Casey. He kept up his physique, dressed meticulously, and had more hair gel than most women.
In 2013, Casey married Katerina Doulis, and soon after they welcomed their daughters, Joslynn and Skylar, to the world. While their marriage was short lived, Casey’s love for his kids endured. They were the reason he got up in the morning and the reason he fought so hard to get his life together.
Casey is survived by his daughters, Joslynn and Skylar; his father, Douglas Gunnell; stepmom, Kristy Gunnell; and siblings, Ashley, Barrett, and Baylee Gunnell. He is predeceased by his mother, Kim Novas; and Grandparents, Clarice Novas, Mary Lois Gunnell, and Leroy Gunnell.
