On the morning of March 29, 2019, Elayne Colyar Mortensen passed away in American Fork, Utah. She was born June 18, 1965 in Provo, Utah to David and LaRue Ford Colyar. She married Edward Lee Mortensen in the Provo, Utah Temple and they were blessed with three children: Amberlee (Mike) Thrasher, Alyssa (Josh) Jacobson and Justin.
Elayne was the kind of person who saw the beauty and goodness in everyone around her. She made everyone around her feel special. In spite of her struggles and health challenges, she always had a positive outlook.
She had a deep love of the Savior and was strong and unwavering in her testimony of Jesus Christ. She served in numerous church callings and enjoyed sharing her beautiful voice with others. She taught by example and never missed an opportunity to serve. Whenever she heard of a person in need, she was the first to offer help.
Elayne loved being a mom and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had a special way about her that made people feel comfortable and loved. She was a genuinely kind person who served others until the end.
She is survived by her husband, three children and five grandchildren (Carter, Kendall and Harper Thrasher, Anthony and Ryan Jacobson), her father, three brothers: Dave (Norma) Colyar, Mike (Shelly) Colyar, Matt (Kristy) Colyar, sister-in-law Sharon Colyar, and mother-in-law Bettie Mortensen. She was preceded in death by her mother, brother Jeff Colyar, and father-in-law Dale Mortensen.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Garden Second Ward Chapel located at 905 North 500 West in Pleasant Grove. Friends and family may pay respects from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
