Emily was born on September 5, 1990 in American Fork, Utah to William A. Timothy and Joycelyn Roberts Timothy. Emily passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the age of 27 due to an accidental prescription drug overdose.
We want to share Emily's story of addiction, hoping it will bring awareness and help others struggling with this devastating disease. Even though she struggled with a darkness that few will ever understand, Emily had many amazing qualities and a big loving heart. She is going to be missed greatly by everyone that knew her.
She loved her family deeply and always said "I love you" at the end of every get together or text message. Emily's laugh was so contagious that it made you laugh even if the joke wasn't that funny. Although Em had a good sense of humor, she hated being teased. That didn't stop her brothers and sisters from including her in normal sibling banter and telling her she needed to 'toughen up'.
Emily was a very loyal and fierce friend. She went above and beyond to help a friend in need, whether it be running errands or being a shoulder to cry on.
Family traditions were important to Emily, especially our annual Easter Egg Roll. She loved hanging out having a BBQ and playing board games with family and friends (although, since Emily ran consistently two hours late she was always told an earlier meeting time).
She had gone to school and obtained her CNA certificate and worked in that field for many years and was very good at it. She loved her patients and they loved her. She always enjoyed doing hair and had recent plans to go back to school and get her certificate. Emily was a good cook, her specialty being enchiladas, chicken rollups, sloppy Joes. A fond memory is when Emily was on a baking kick and made funfetti cupcakes twice a week for several months.
Emily was survived by her father and seven older siblings: JoLynn Rice, Angela Timothy, Rebecca (Troy) Sorensen, Bryan (Katy) Timothy, Brenda (Jamie) Coleman, Dale (Julia) Timothy, Marianne (Cory) Accardi as well as 25 nieces and nephews and her dog, Pennee. She was preceded in death by her mother.
