On Monday, 17 June 2019, Gary Wayne Clifton, loving husband and father of seven children, passed away at the age of 76. Gary was born on 4 May 1943 in Oakland, California. On 18 August 1972, he married Cindy Lou Ferguson. They raised two daughters and four sons. Following Cindy's passing, he married Elizabeth Jorolan Geraldez in 2003. They had one son.
Gary's passion for helping others led him to obtain multiple degrees in education and counseling. A chaplain in the Utah Army National Guard and a school guidance counselor, he dedicated his life to the service of others both near home and abroad. He was fearless in his pursuits, engaging equally with people of all stations in life. He had a generous heart and his loss will be felt by many. Gary was a consummate do-it-yourselfer who was always engaged in a cause.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Albert, his mother, Lorraine, his wife Cindy, and his son, Gary Wayne Clifton Jr. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, his children, Chandelyn, Matthew, Rebecca, Nathan, Joseph, and Gary Emanuel, sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Though he has passed, his influence is still with us.
