Hal Lewis, loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and coach passed away, Monday, August 6, 2018 after a brief fight with pancreatic cancer.
Hal was born on October 31, 1939 in Orem, Utah to Floyd Rees Lewis and Ardath Annie (Wright) Lewis. Hal graduated from Pleasant Grove High school in 1957 and from Brigham Young University in 1961. Hal is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully.
On February 24, 1956 Hal married Deanna (Wadley) Lewis. They had six children. Rand Hal (Jennifer) Lewis, Shelly Gottfredson (William Coates), Debi Lewis, Steve Richard (Sharyl) Lewis, F. Quinn (Lisa) Lewis, and Kristin Lewis. Hal is survived by 27 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. A brother Carey Lewis, sister in law Coleen Lewis, a brother in law Richard Wadley and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hal returned to Utah after the death of his wife Deanna in 2006. He met Carol J. Jessop and married her in the fall of 2008. Hal is survived by Carol, her children and grandchildren.
Hal was known to many as "Coach”. He coached at Logan High, Bear River High, and Weber High School. Hal loved coaching. In fact, he said, "I teach so I can coach."
Hal left coaching and went back to school to become a chiropractor. He had multiple clinics in Fort Worth, Abilene, and Lubbock Texas.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Family and friends may attend a viewing from 12:00 noon to 12:45 p.m. prior to the celebration. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
