IvaLou (Hansen) BaldwinDecember 25, 1929 ~ October 3, 2017 (age 87)
IvaLou Baldwin, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully in her home in Lindon on October 3, 2017 of causes incident to age. She was the best Christmas gift ever, being born on December 25, 1929 in Young Ward, Utah. She was the third of seven daughters born to Clifford E. Hansen, and Ivy Mary Hansen.
She was raised in Cache Valley, UT and loved playing and working on her uncle’s farms. She loved her life there and has always kept a real love for the Cache Valley area. She faithfully served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northwestern States. That is where she met her future husband, Richard C. Baldwin who was also a missionary. After his return they were sealed September 24, 1953 in the Logan LDS Temple.
They raised 5 children in Orem, Utah. IvaLou was a stay at home mom with 3 meals a day on the table, every day. She volunteered and was involved in the community as the first president of the Pink Ladies at the Orem Community Hospital. She served faithfully in many positions of leadership in her ward. She was a friend to all and served her neighbors tirelessly. She forgot about her own struggles and went about doing good.
She was a creator. She sewed clothes. She made quilts, stuffed animals, sock monkeys and homemade cards of love. She kept the heart of a child. She loved rocks, dolls, children’s books, flowers and everyone she met. She lived a Christ-like life of integrity and was loved by all who knew her; especially her cherished family. She was a woman without guile, who loved the Lord and His Temples. IvaLou and Richard had missionary hearts. They served together in the Washington DC Temple, Cherry Hill New Jersey Family History mission and Las Vegas Nevada CES mission.
IvaLou was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 2 sisters. She is survived by her children Debbie (Stanley) Wadley of Pleasant Grove, UT; Roxanne (Steven) Seely of Pleasant Grove, UT; Janeth (Shane) Gladden of Lindon, UT; Tracie (Glen) Madsen of Santa Clara, UT; Jason (Lisa) Baldwin of Orem, UT; 18 Grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren; Sisters Darma Christensen, American Fork, UT; Martha Swan, Orem, UT; Bettie (Montain) Kunz, Bern, ID; Nellie Jenkins, Brigham City, UT.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 9, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Lindon Central Stake Center Chapel, 56 East 600 North, Lindon, Utah. Friends and family may visit Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 S. 300 E. Pleasant Grove, Utah, Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 6 – 8 p.m. There will also be a viewing Monday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the Lindon City Cemetery.
