Jeniel Butler Madsen passed away November 6, 2017 at the age of 76 from complications related to a stroke, with her lifetime sweetheart Rulon and daughter Bodi at her side.

She was born May 16, 1941 in Provo, Utah to Lyla June Fautin and Hyrum Grant Butler. She was the oldest of 6 children. She lived in Orem, Utah until 1959 where she attended Geneva Elementary, Orem Jr. High School and Graduated from Orem High School class of 1959.

Jeniel loved high school, studying short hand, type, book keeping and math. She worked as an assistant to the Industrial Arts/ Shop instructor Mr. Stone, which was very beneficial to her later in life.

Rulon and Jeniel were childhood friends and neighbors from the age of 8 and then high school sweethearts.  Jeniel married Rulon J. Madsen March 6, 1959. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on January 21, 1961. From their marriage they had 6 children. Jeniel’s main focus in life was being a great, devoted and loving mother and wife. Through this time the family lived in Bountiful and Kaysville, Utah for 13 years. There she worked seasonal work for the IRS doing key punch recordings and tax returns.

In 1972 they moved their family back to Utah County, building their home in Lindon and living there the remainder of her life. She worked for Lindon Elementary school, first in the lunch program, then she worked as an aid, serving special needs children which she loved. After years there she went to work for Deseret Bank in Pleasant Grove and then later was assigned to the Lindon office. She worked there for 18 years with the change overs to First Security and then Wells Fargo. Jeniel worked herself up to an assistant Manager, directing account management in the Lindon Branch. She retired in 1996.

Jeniel was an active member of the LDS church serving in many callings throughout the years. She loved working in the primary, young women’s program and visiting teaching. She and Rulon served two years in the Mount Timpanogos Temple. Jeniel loved her calling doing family history extraction, and did so for many years even following her Stroke in 2008.

She and Rulon enjoyed many years after retirement traveling throughout the USA, Canada, a family vacation to Hawaii, cruises to Alaska and the Victoria Island with twelve seasons playing snowbirds in Arizona. They loved camping with special attention to their property in Fairview Canyon.
