Larry Montag passed away on December 29th, 2018 unexpectedly in Lehi, Utah surrounded by his family. He was 68 years old.
He was born to Bobby and Geraldine Montag in Murray, Utah.
Larry grew up in Orem, Utah where he made many friends that he referred to as family.
He was a master mechanic and could literally fix anything. He had a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering and was the Lead Engineer in most of his positions.
He worked many years in the pipe trades. He held lead positions at Geneva Steel in Orem UT, WECCO in Cedar City UT, Quikrete in Salt Lake City UT. He owned A&M auto repair in Pleasant Grove Utah with John Adams. In his later years he taught himself to fix computers and build programs and he was brilliant at it. He was working at Firestone in Orem and Provo before he passed away.
Larry was a great example of love and kindness. He welcomed everyone he met and instantly called them his friend. He would do anything to help someone in need and he would never ask to be repaid in any way. Family was Larry's world. He had a great love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He and Laurie had a fairytale romance for over 40 years. She was his light and his life. His family has been influenced by his love and kindness towards others and follow in his example.
Larry always said, " This is my ride and i live it with no regrets". He loved being outdoors riding his ATV, camping and fishing. He had a great love for nature, animals and his country. He served in the Army.
In honor of him, please take the time to do something kind for someone that is struggling, live life to the fullest and enjoy YOUR ride.
He is survived by the love of his life, Laurie Landrum Montag of Pleasant Grove and together they shared four children. Trent Hines - Orem UT, Charity (Scott) Griffin- Mona UT, Brandon (Heidi) Montag- Springville UT and Nancy (Jeremy) Paulson- Pleasant Grove UT. He is also survived by four brothers: Frank (Phyllis), Dennis (Darla), Grant and Blaine (Dana) and fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents- Bobby and Geraldine Montag, a Sister Claudia Monahan, a brother Lynn Montag and his dear friend, John Adams.
A celebration of life for family and friends will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Lehi Stake Center located at 1920 North 500 West, Lehi, Utah. Please enter from the back of the building.
Larry's children would like to thank everyone that have taken the time to send well wishes and that have volunteered to help our mother during this tragic time.
