Leonard Lee Rentfro, 75, of Saratoga Springs, Utah passed away, Tuesday, February 20, 2018 from complications of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Leonard was born April 13, 1942 in Stewardson, Illinois to Truman Eli and Edith Hallie Tarrant Rentfro. He married Bonnie Fletcher on August 26, 1961 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Leonard grew up in Stewardson and graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in 1961 where he excelled in track. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Locomotive Engineer from the Union Pacific Railroad in 2004 after 30 years of service.
Leonard could often be found either working in his yard or helping a neighbor move, which were his favorite hobbies.
He was a devoted member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many callings.
Leonard is survived by his wife Bonnie; five children: Trena Baker, Brad (Lisa) Rentfro, Brent (Peggy) Rentfro, Gina (Mark Stone) Steadman and Marci (Chad) Beck, Grandchildren; Todd and David Conway, Dustin, Randy, Devin, Hailey Baker, Ranae Barnes, Samantha Williamson, Hayden and Stockton Rentfro, Braxton, Ethan, Mason, and Ashton Steadman, Alanna Stone, Katia and Daniel Rentfro, Branden Miller, and Sylvia and Bella Beck and 14 great grandchildren. and 15 great grandchildren; siblings: Deloris, Barbara, Jim, Linda and Larry. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings: Loretta and Don.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 1:00 pm in the Lake Mountain Fourth Ward Chapel, 88 West Harbor Park Way, Saratoga Springs where family and friends may attend a viewing from 11:00 am-12:45 pm prior to services. Interment will be in Veterans Memorial Park, Bluffdale, Utah with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 72. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
