In her early married years, Lovina loved to sew clothes for herself and her daughter. Later she sewed and tied beautiful quilts. She loved to travel and vacation with her family. Family dinners and Memorial Day family gatherings were among her favorite days. She enjoyed studying the scriptures and church literature and then sharing it with her family and friends.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many capacities including Sunday School teacher, MIA President, Relief Society President, and Spiritual Living teacher (her favorite calling). She served a full-time mission with her husband to the Charleston West Virginia Mission from 1983–1984.
