Ruth Gifford of Orem, Utah passed away peacefully on May 14, 2018 at Bel Aire Homes at the age of 100.
She was born on April 22, 1918 in Thatcher, Idaho to Perry Floyd Ivie and Hepzibah Ellen Coombs. On June 22nd 1936 Ruth married Karl Elmer Whitaker in Burley, Idaho. They had three children; Ivie, Lee and Judy. Karl and Ruth divorced on June 6, 1949. On April 1, 1963, Ruth married Rodney L. Gifford in Spokane, Washington.
Ruth had many interests, she was a very skilled gardener and enjoyed spending time in her garden, weeding and beautifying her surroundings. Once Rod retired they enjoyed yearly camping trips to Yuma, Arizona. She also enjoyed crocheting, over the years Ruth was involved in humanitarian efforts making countless items to donate. Ruth was very passionate about church, a very devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Those preceding her in death; husband Rodney Gifford, siblings Ona Blakemore, Evert Ivie, Burton Ivie, Lydia Anderson, Theresa Aldrich, her son Lee Whitaker and son-in-law Mont J Pettingill. Those surviving Ruth are her brothers Rex Ivie (Mary-deceased) and Russell Ivie (Helen), her daughters Ivie Pettingill and Judy Jones (Harvey), Grandchildren; Jody Tippetts (Kyle), Janice Flu (Jim), Doug Jones (Traci), Kevin Jones (Brandy), Mark Jones (Bevin), and Dawn Whitaker. Great Grandchildren; Lauren Tippetts, Lindsey Tippetts, Trisha Felber, James Flu III, Britney Smith, Riley Jones, Bergen Jones, Avery Jones, Ryder Jones, Kyle Jones, Bailee Jones, Camden Jones, Alexandria Hodges, and Amy Elaine.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindon City Cemetery under the direction of Olpin Family Mortuary. Branch President Wayne Manwaring will preside. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
