Thomas Ardie Adams

April 13, 1922 ~ March 6, 2018 (age 95)

Our beloved father, Thomas Ardie Adams, 95, of Pleasant Grove passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018.   He was born April 13, 1922 in Pleasant Grove to Benjamin Franklin and Margaret Adamson Adams. He was the seventh of nine children.   He married Bea Walker on September 11, 1942 in Salt Lake LDS Temple.  Bea passed away in 2007.

Ardie grew up in Pleasant Grove and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School.  He attended Weber College.  Ardie served his country in the U S Coast during WWII, stationed out of San Francisco.    After his service he worked with his father on the family farm.  Ardie loved farming and purchased the ground from his father near the mouth of Battlecreek Canyon.  He started from scratch, having to clear the ground for planting by removing sage brush, scrub oak, native grasses and rock, plenty of rock.  The farm was able to support two families.  His son Ed worked many years with him.   When he decided to step back, his son Paul and Ed worked the orchards together.

He enjoyed serving in a wide variety of church callings including Bishop, Counselor in the Stake Presidency, culminating with his call to serve as the first Patriarch of the newly formed Pleasant Grove Utah East Stake in which he faithfully served for 30 years.

After all his daily pursuits and achievements, the most important thing he found in life was what the Savior had done for him.

He is survived by his three sons and daughter: Cameron (Kathleen), Edward (Betty), Paul (Diane), LuAnn (Kent) Ackerman; 15 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, sisters: Laura (Victor) Hammond and Margaret Thorne.  He was preceded in death by his son Richard Thomas Adams and his siblings: Bernice, Cameron, Ellen, Dewey, Dezzie and Nathan.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 12, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Pleasant East Stake Center, 825 South Loader Drive, Pleasant Grove.  Family and friends may attend a viewing Sunday evening from 6-8 pm at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Monday from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services.   Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 72.  Condolences may be sent to the family at
