Tom Maxfield, 61, of Lindon, Utah passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, March 30, 2018. Tom was born August 23, 1956 in American Fork, Utah to Holly and Gwen Maxfield. He married Patti Burt on March 5, 1976 in Sandy, Utah.
Tom grew up in Lindon and loved spending time with his dad and helping on their family farm. He always did his chores, which he grew to love in his adult life. Tom graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1974. After graduating, he worked in the auto parts industry for 43 years and he made so many wonderful friends during that time. He had a fantastic work ethic and worked extremely hard for so many years.
He loved his two daughters dearly and spent so much of his time at gymnastics, dance, and cheer competitions. He was at every single one of their events. His love and support were felt from him every day. Dad always made sure he had time for his girls and no matter how busy he was, he was always available for his family. He was a true family man.
Tom was a true cowboy at heart. His love of animals and riding horses kept him busy every weekend, whether it be giving riding lessons to his grandkids or going on a horse ride in the canyon with his dog, Sadie. He was so at peace when he was there. He loved every minute spent in his barn with all of his animals and with his horse, Wrangler. He loved to wake up early and “putter” around the barn and spend time with his horses.
Tom adored his grandkids and they were his everything. He spent countless hours and days spending time with each of his grandkids playing in the barn, constructing masterpieces in the garage, giving golf cart and tractor rides and doing anything the grandkids could dream of. He was the most amazing Grandpa ever. Oh, how they loved their “Grandpa Tom”.
Tom was a true friend to all, to know him is to love him. He would lend a hand to anyone in need. His quiet gentleness was evident and felt by everyone around him. We love and will forever miss Tom, wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law and friend.
He is survived by his wife Patti; two daughters: Jodi (Wyatt) Cloward, Lindon and Tandi (Jake) Davis, Pleasant Grove; four grandchildren: Davi, Halli, Ella, and Gunner; siblings: Gloria (Steve) Nicholes, Lindon, Lynell (Carl) Wilkinson, Lindon and Dave (Melanie) Maxfield, American Fork. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rick and nephew, Mike Batchelor.
