Our mother, Velma Petersen Walker, 91, of Orem, formerly of Lindon passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018. She was born December 6, 1926 in Cheyenne, WY to Carl Ferdinand and Emma Hennig Petersen. She was the first daughter (and a twin) of four children. She married William Mack Walker on April 10, 1948 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on January 7, 1964. Mack passed away in 2010.
Velma grew up in WY and graduated from Laramie High School. She worked at Geneva Steel and Walker Oil and lived most of her married life in Lindon and Orem. She enjoyed many neighborly friendships wherever she lived. The church callings that she enjoyed the most were the secretarial ones and serving in the temple.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons: Vickie (Rod) Patterson, Steven, Jana Bath, Kelli Carson, Brad (Gerri); six grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, sister: Phyllis Penrod and brother: Carl (Gail) Petersen. She was preceded in death by her twin: Earl Petersen.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Windsor Third Ward Chapel, 1405 North Main, Orem. Family and friends may attend a viewing from 9 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Brite Works Villa of Pleasant Grove (Marcella, Teresa, Narita and Kim) for the loving care they provided along with her nurse Pauline and aid, Sara.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Primary Children’s Medical Center.
