William "Willie" Henry Jones

July 4, 1953 ~ October 20, 2019 (age 66)

Obituary

A gentle giant always full of love and kindness, William Henry Jones passed away peacefully on October 20th, 2019. After leaving his physical body that plagued him with health issues for the past 23 years, Willie was welcomed home by his eldest son Michael, and then reunited with angel baby grandson Chase and his father Frank.

Willie was born to loving parents Francis and Jeanette Jones in Provo, UT on July 4, 1953. For us, that's what the fireworks are for. Willie's childhood was full of love in a big family with three sisters and three brothers. When the family lived in California he found his love for the sport of baseball (despite none of his brothers being able to handle the "heat" when they played catch) and of course his love for the Dodgers. After a return to Utah, he graduated from Spanish Fork High School and served time in the US Air Force. Willie loved cars and took that love to racing his 56' Chevy at Bonneville Race Way and spent other free time fixing up cars. He married Terri Lee Porter and they moved to Orem, Utah where together with lots of love (and classic Jones teasing) they built a beautiful home and started a foundation to raise six awesome sons. As a family they were sealed together for eternity in the Provo Temple. Willie loved his Heavenly Father and showed so by striving to be a wonderful example to many serving as a great man and Latter Day Saint.

His contributions to the community of Orem were felt when he served as a Youth Baseball Commissioner and even found time to coach all of his sons. He was a hard worker for 25 years at Pacific States Pipe Plant to make sure his family would be taken care of. In 1996 on his way home from working a graveyard shift, Willie was in a car accident that would forever change his life. Surviving the accident left him partially blind and with limitations on his body that kept him from doing two things he loved most, driving cars and playing baseball. This didn't change the fact that his spirit still filled with an abundance of love and kindness, never wavering, and every day he woke to find positivity and a reason to live. Even if that meant sharing a new joke to get a laugh or telling a sometimes highly exaggerated, but always entertaining story, he always delivered smiles while wearing the best of them. Willie spent two decades fighting the battle of life ensuring he'd be around to see his sons and a grandson serve LDS missions, fall in love, marry and have children of their own.

He is survived by his mother Jeannett (Beardall) Jones, his brothers Alvin (Ginny), Jim Buzz (Lori), Dave (Maria), his sisters Sheryl (Dave), Janet (Chuck), Kathy (John), sons Steve (Nicole), Brady (Whitney), Brandon (Jen), Jake, Brett (Annie), and daughter-in-law Dena (Mike), their mother his loving eternal companion Terri Lee Jones, her parents Neal and Estelle Porter, plus his 13 grandchildren that he is extremely proud of.
