Gayle Jensen Brereton, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful friend, passed away on March 28, 2026, in Orem, Utah.
Gayle was born on July 5, 1952, in Provo, Utah, the youngest of six children born to Moroni and Jean Jensen. Raised in a close-knit faithful family, she was taught the value of hard work, devotion, and a love of God from an early age. Her childhood was filled with joy, creativity, and adventure. She had a love for ballet, piano, and horses; interests that reflected her creativity, energy, and vibrant spirit.
While attending Orem High School, Gayle met the love of her life, Jerry. Their young love grew into a deep and enduring love, and they were married on November 2, 1972, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. Through the years they were blessed to welcome four beautiful daughters into the world. They first made their home in Salt Lake City before their journey took them out of state. Years later, they returned to Utah County, where Gayle spent the remainder of her life surrounded by those she loved most.
Gayle was a devoted mother who created a warm and loving home filled with love, faith, and belonging. She nurtured her family with kindness, strength, and unwavering dedication. She often lovingly referred to her daughters as her “Little Women.” Her love extended to her 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply.
Gayle’s life was deeply rooted in her faith in Jesus Christ. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served faithfully in many callings throughout her life, including Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society. She loved serving in the temple and found great purpose in family history and genealogy, always striving to connect generations and strengthen eternal families. Her testimony guided everything she did, and she lived her discipleship actively serving, lifting, and loving others with sincerity and devotion.
She found joy in the beauty of life and the world around her. Gayle loved boating, camping, skiing, and spending time in the mountains. She enjoyed going on rides and being outdoors, where she felt peace and happiness. At home, she expressed her love through gardening, canning and preserving, cross-stitching, and scrapbooking; creating both beauty and lasting memories for her family.
Gayle is remembered for her warmth, creativity, strength, and unwavering devotion to her Savior. She lived her faith openly and fully, and her life was a reflection of Christlike love, service, and compassion. She had a strong and vibrant presence, and her influence will continue to be felt in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband Jerry Brereton; her daughters, Avery Brereton, Sarah Branin (Jason), Rachel Snow (Newell Andrus), and Lisa Rangel (Felix); her siblings, Gloria Lesher, Karen Hunt (James), Kathleen Andersen (David), and Jan Jensen (Carole); her brother-in-law Greg Brereton (Hope) and sister-in-law Cindy Farnworth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws; her brother, Mike Jensen; her brothers-in-law, Dennis Lesher and Scooter Farnworth; and her nephew, Shawn Jensen.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude for the love and support shown during this time.
Gayle’s life was a testament to faith, love, and enduring family bonds. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
