Bruce John Stone, age 84, loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, GGpa, Uncle and Friend of Pleasant Grove (formerly Yuba City, CA) passed away surrounded by family on June 26, 2019. Bruce was born on October 21, 1934 in Salt Lake City Utah, the youngest child of Ralph Zenus Stone and Edna Lavinia Payne.
Bruce grew up in Salt Lake City where he attended East High School, and contracted polio at the age of 15. In his late teens, Bruce moved to Northern California where he met the love of his life and eternal companion Beverly Jean Santos. They were married on February 25, 1956, later being sealed for time and all eternity in the Oakland Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 9, 1976. Together they had 4 children: John David, Dennis Craig, Robert Dean, and Lisa Gaye.
Bruce found great joy in teaching others about the gospel of Jesus Christ and shared his faithful testimony of our loving Heavenly Father and Savior to anyone who would listen. He had a great belief in the importance of family and was never prouder then when he was surrounded by them. He was greatly respected by all who crossed his path and could often be found starting genuine conversations with random strangers as he went about his day. He was known for his big smile that he freely gave to all who he encountered. Although stricken with endless health trials, not the least of which were the aftereffects of polio, he kept an optimistic and faithful outlook even in the most trying of times. He taught his family to love with their whole hearts, just as he did.
In his youth, Bruce loved to spend his time golfing, fishing, hunting, and camping with his family. As he got older, he found a true love of painting with watercolor and acrylics and would find time to paint for anyone who touched his life. He also loved a good game of cards, particularly Hearts and Canasta. His children and grandchildren would take great pleasure when they could beat him as he was truly the King of Cards, a talent passed down from his mother.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ralph & Edna Stone, step-father Archie Robertson, his siblings Shirley Jean Buchanan and Ralph Richard Stone and his great-grandson, Samuel John Stone.
He is survived by his wife Beverly Jean Santos, children John David (Rebecca) Stone, Dennis Craig (Becky) Stone, Robert Dean (Jill) Stone and Lisa Gaye Stone; along with 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
God has you in his arms, we will keep you in our hearts. We will miss your quick wit, pure faith, and unending unconditional love.
Sincere gratitude and thanks to Mary-Louise and Jordan with Canyon Home Health and Hospice who were truly our angels on earth during this difficult time and took such tender care of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather.
