Chloe Giles Smith, age 91, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 16, 2022, in Lindon, Utah.
Chloe was born on February 26, 1931, to William Earl and Ruby Mae Stanley Giles in Hanna, Utah. She graduated from Wasatch High School. She married her sweetheart, Nyal J Smith, on June 18,1948, in Heber City, Utah. Chloe was mostly a homemaker but throughout her many years she worked in retail and as a seamstress in a sewing manufacturing company. She worked with her husband on their fruit farm for many years and operated a fruit stand on State Street. She also loved to hunt, camp, and fish. She enjoyed doing crafts like crocheting, knitting, and working with plastic canvas. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed a very close relationship with all of them. A favorite family activity was playing cards and games. She loved playing games with everyone and was so patient with her younger grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Chloe is survived by her daughter, Nila, son James (Sheryl) Smith, six grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and siblings, Earlene Prescott and Stanley (Diane) Giles. She is preceded in death by her husband, Nyal, son (Curtis L Smith), daughter-in-law (Geri Smith), son-in-law (Kenneth V Wootton), grandson (Neil Kenneth Wootton), siblings (Audrey Giles, Ruth Sulser, Boyd Giles), and her parents.
The family wants to thank First Choice Home, Health, & Hospice for the excellent help and care they gave Chloe the past 8 months or so. Special thanks to Angela, Babette, Rachel, & Cassie.
An evening viewing will be held Monday, May 23, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 S 300 E, Pleasant Grove. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Lindon 18th Ward Chapel, 1050 West 1600 North, Orem with a viewing from 9:45 -10:45 am. Interment will be in the Lindon City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
