Clarence LeRoy “Lee” Albertson Jr.,79, of Pleasant Grove, devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grand Father, and disciple of Jesus Christ passed away peacefully in his sleep of natural causes on the morning of May 4, 2020, (3 weeks shy of his 80th Birthday.) Lee grew up in several locations in the Salt Lake Valley until the family settle in Kearns, Utah where lee attended, and graduated from Cyprus High School, class of 1958. Lee was an exceptional athlete and excelled in football and wrestling, his Senior year Lee placed 3rd in the State for wrestling.
Soon after graduation and while preparing to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Lee meet and fell in love with Janet Ellis, and his plans to serve a mission was put on hold 42 years.
Lee married Janet Ellis Albertson on January 8, 1960 in the Salt Lake Temple and together they have 5 children; William Paul, Charlene, Charles Earl, Janalee, Amber Ann, and their sweet Navajo daughter LeVern Mego. Family was the most important to Lee and he never allowed an opportunity pass without expressing his love to his sweetheart wife, Janet, his gratitude for family, and his great Love and devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Lee served in many positions of responsibility for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He loved to work with the youth of the church, and was a great mentor to many young men in his ward, and continued to be good friends with them throughout his life. At age 38 Lee was called to be a Patriarch for the Kearns Utah South Stake, and gave hundreds of Patriarchal blessing to the member of that stake. He Loved serving as Patriarch, and served faithfully in that calling until he was called to be a Bishop in 1995.
Soon after he was released as Bishop in Kearns, Lee and Janet moved to Pleasant Grove, Utah so Lee could be closer to his work at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo where he was the Director of Engineering. Immediately after his retirement in 2002 Lee and Janet served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Lubbock, Texas Mission. They served two years proselyting in San Angelo, TX where they learned to love the people of West Texas, and developed a love for BBQing.
Lee was preceded in death by his youngest daughter Amber (Latu), and his grandson C LeRoy Latu, his great grandson Noah Eugen Woodward, his sister Patricia Desmaris, brothers-in law; Gene Ellis, Bob Brakey, Dennis Desmaris, and son-in law Ricardo (Ricky) Flores. He is survived by his wife Janet, children; Paul Albertson, Charlene (Robert) Gunderson, Charles (Tawnya) Albertson, Janalee Flores. 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and his 3 sisters Myrna Brown, Earlynn Sheehan, and Pennie Brakey.
A private family viewing will be held on Friday, May 8, 2020 at the Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah.
The family regrets, that due to the Covid -19 pandemic restrictions, only immediate family may participate in the viewing. Following the viewing funeral services will be streamed at 11:00 a.m. at facebook.com/amykgundersonprue. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery at 12:15 p.m.
