Colleen Archibald Ercanbrack passed away peacefully at her home in American Fork on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at the age of 77. As a 46-year cancer survivor, she always demonstrated great strength and resilience.
She was born May 28, 1944 in Ontario, Oregon to Sheldon Keith Archibald and Beth Christensen. She was the firstborn of their 3 children. Colleen received her early education in the Oregon towns of Ontario, Vale, and La Grande, and graduated from La Grande High School. She met and courted her future husband while she attended BYU as a student of music.
Colleen developed a talent and interest in music as a young child. Her love and passion for music was shared thru her participation and service in numerous church and school groups, as well as in musical theater programs.
She married Dennis LeGrand Ercanbrack in the Salt Lake Temple, August 19, 1964, and they are the proud parents of 4 sons. Colleen was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. Her family has been her priority. She firmly believed and practiced the adage that a family that prays together, and does things together, stays together. Hence, she participated in Scouting, sports, hiking-backpacking-camping, river rafting, fishing, gardening, and raising goats and rabbits.
Colleen enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom until a special job request came while her youngest son was 9 years old. Her employment history included working as a telephone operator, a dental assistant, a high school librarian, and in customer service at Mervyn's Department store.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several wards and in numerous callings in Oregon and Utah. Additionally, she served with her husband in both the Mount Timpanogos and Halifax (Nova Scotia) Temples, and as a service missionary at the BYU Family History Library.
Colleen will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband of 57 years; two sisters: Marilyn (Caldwell, ID) and Nyla (Las Vegas, NV); 4 sons: Darren (Yuma, AZ), Jeffery (Lehi, UT), Corey (Hyde Park, UT), and Trevor (Orem, UT); 14 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild, Megan Joy Ercanbrack.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the American Fork Stake Center Chapel, 240 South Center St., American Fork where family and friends may attend a viewing from 9:00-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will follow the services in the Lindon City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
