Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, David Harvey, peacefully passed away at his home on June 1, 2022, surrounded by his family, at the age of 87 years old.

David was born in Pleasant Grove, UT on September 2, 1934, to Leo and Arvilla Harvey. He was the last of six sons born in their family and a twin to James Harvey. He learned the value of hard work and the love of farming by his father, helping to run their farm. David loved team sports, excelling in whatever he played, but especially liked in basketball, tennis, and baseball. Following graduation from Pleasant Grove High School, he served a full-time mission in Mississippi for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, then served in the US Army Reserve for six years. After which, David met and married the love of his life and best friend, Dixie Renee Timms. They had eight children, four sons and four daughters.  He loved his wife and family deeply and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sports and musical activities.

David was a respected and beloved member of the community with a memorable handshake. He, unknowingly, crushed anyone’s outreached hand, while giving them one of his easy smiles that brightened anyone’s day. As a farmer, he raised alfalfa, apples, cherries, and wheat. One of his treasured past times was to sit in his favorite chair in the shed on the farm and look at his fields. Time and time again, he (and his family) would get remarks from neighbors and strangers walking along Murdock Trail, saying how much they loved seeing David on his tractor in the fields as they passed. Eventually, some of those fields became the beloved Harvey Park, which was named after, and dedicated to him.

David was a great leader and example to all those he knew. He loved to make a difference and strove to be active in making a change for the better. He served in the House of Representatives for 12 years for the State of Utah. Later, he was elected as a member in the Alpine School Board District and served in that capacity for eight years. Not only was David an inspirational leader in the community, but he was also a dedicated leader and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His faith was paramount in his life. Starting at 30 years old, he served in various capacities within the church, including bishop, stake president, District President at the MTC, Regional Representative, as well as a counselor in the MTC presidency. One of his fondest callings was serving with his wife, Dixie, as a Mission President in the Billings, Montana mission. He loved serving his Savior, Jesus Christ, and he touched the lives of everyone around him. His legacy of service and love, hard work, along with his contagious smile and boisterous laugh will always be remembered.

He is survived by his children, Craig, Julie, Mark, Stan, Carol, Jeff, Annette, and Rebecca, as well as 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and his two brothers, James and Ken Harvey.

Preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Gene, and J.H. Harvey, as well as his parents, Leo and Arvilla Harvey.
