It is with great sadness we announce that David Allen Merryweather, our dear husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend passed away on August 25, 2021. He was diagnosed a year ago with a rare blood disorder and fought a strong and courageous battle until the end.
David was born in Provo, Utah on May 9, 1957 to Frank and Joanne Merryweather. David often talked about his childhood time with his 5 brothers and sweet sister, playing Santa, picking apples in the orchards, and the boat that couldn't float.
At the young age of fifteen, David met the love of his life Janice Nadine Finster. They were married on July 16, 1976 in Lindon, Utah. For the next forty-five years, they were inseparable. Together they had one daughter and two sons. They enjoyed home projects, taking care of their yard, family time, and serving those around them.
You could count on David to fix anything. A famous saying of his was, "if you are not going to do it right, don't do it at all." He loved taking care of his parents, working on his 1969 Firebird, going to car shows with his brothers, searching for a new project, learning about engineering and how things work, spending time with his family, playing with his grandkids, and most of all mowing his lawn.
David was the anchor of his family. He was always looking for ways to help them and make them feel loved and special. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
David is survived by his wife, Janice and his children: BobbiJo (James) Burk, David Kurt (Shelley) Merryweather, Michael (Amity) Merryweather, his seven grandchildren: Amanda (Ethan), Brayden, Braxton, Aspen, Elwin, and Flynn. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Joanne.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing for David on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 9:30-11:30 am at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Private family services will follow in Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
