Dolores Margaret Johnson (Dee), 76, passed away peacefully in Lehi, Utah on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023 surrounded by her three sons. Dee was born on May 13th, 1946 in Orange, California, and was lovingly adopted by Wendall Wadsworth Gall and LaDella Eveline Bowen after being left on the hospital steps. She grew up in Reno, Nevada, and graduated from Reno High School.
She met Warren Dale Johnson (Dale) at the Institute of Religion in Reno while attending the University of Nevada, Reno. They married on January 22, 1966 in Reno, and were sealed for eternity in the Oakland, California Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 18, 1967. After Dale graduated from college, they eventually settled in Carson City, Nevada and raised a family.
Dee always wanted to be a mom, and she did that very well, despite many challenges in her life. She was a loving example of having fun and doing what is right. Throughout her life, she had a fun personality and would often joke around to make sure everyone around her would smile, even through pain in her last days. She would often take her kids out to teach them how to play practical jokes on friends. She would always listen to her kids' problems and help them find ways to get through challenges with friends or in school. She loved to give gifts to her friends and family.
Dee was so tender-hearted. She loved animals and her dogs. She was a very talented gardener and loved taking care of her collection of plants in the garden. She knew every flower, shrub, and tree she had across her yard, and loved the colors, variety, and joy they brought to the earth.
When her children began to start families of their own in Utah, Dale and Dee moved to Lehi to be close to them and their children. Dee loved her grandchildren and was excited to see them as much as she could. She loved to buy them craft and activity supplies so she could share her artistic talents with them whenever they'd come over to her house.
Dee served often in the Church in various capacities, strengthening her many close friendships and extended family relationships over the years. While she was an only-child, she was loved by special women that were truly her sisters. She cherished her time and memories working with the young women in Carson City and going to girls camp with them many times. After moving to Utah, she worked in the Timpanogos Temple for a time.
In the past two years, she was thrilled to have been able to find out about her birth mother, and discover she had a half sister and a half brother, and was able to begin a relationship with them.
Dee was blessed to be reunited with Dale, who passed in 2017, and together they are reunited with their eldest daughter, Megan, and eldest son, Michael, as well as her loving parents and other beloved family members. She is survived by her sons, Nicolas (Wendy) of Cedar Hills, Ryan (Jessica) of Lehi, and Nathan of Provo; and eleven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cedar Hollow 3rd Ward Chapel, 2178 North 1200 East, Lehi, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will take place from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery.
