Frances Jane Barber Hayes was born February 15, 1954 in Provo, Utah. She was the fourth and youngest child to Peggy Driffil Barber and Russell John Barber. She has two older sisters and one older brother . Jane lived in the house her father built most of her life . Jane remained close to her family throughout her life , lovingly helping with the care of her mom just before she passed.
Jane attended kindergarten at Provost elementary school, and then went to St Francis catholic school for grades 1-11. Her senior year of high school she attended and graduated from Provo High.
Jane met the love of her life, Gary Lee Hayes while employed at Gibson’s Department Store. They married on September 15, 1984. In their first years of marriage, they lived in Las Vegas, Nevada; Yuma, Arizona; Marino Valley, California, and South Carolina. Deciding to raise their family in Utah, they moved back to Provo where they lived in Jane's childhood home. She loved living there and took great pride in her garden and her roses. Her love for working outside gave her the opportunity to make friends as they walked by. Always with a wave and a smile on her face, she made even strangers feel like long lost friends
Jane and Gary are the parents of two children, Jennilynn (Eric) Warren, and Jonathan (Shamika) Hayes. Next to her husband Jane’s children were her life . She was an exceptional mother who was generous with praise and love , quick to smile and found positive energy in every situation. When grandchildren came, she was thrilled to be a grandmother. She loved spending time with them and watching them grow. They were her world and she made sure to show them that every day.
Jane also had a deep love for the gospel of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints becoming a member along with her children on July 19, 2006. She would later be sealed to her husband for time and all eternity in the Provo temple and to her children as well. Jane loved attending church and served in the Provo temple for several years.
Never quite letting Alzheimer’s win completely, she always recognized her loving family and made sure to hug them and show them in her way, her love for them until the very end.
