Our beloved father and grandfather, Gerald “Gerry” Aaron York, 76, of Draper, Utah passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 as a result of a traffic accident in Johnson County, Iowa. Gerald was born September 29, 1942 in Ogden, Utah to Louis Aaron and Twila Ruby Morrell York. He married Judith Anderson and together had six children. They were later divorced.
Gerry grew up in Ogden, Utah. Gerry had a successful career in real estate in southern California while residing in Santa Barbara. In 1982, the family moved to Huntsville, Utah and later settled in Orem where he continued his real estate career. In his later life, Gerry appreciated all the simple things, whether it was driving around the Alpine Loop, listening to loud music while enjoying the fall colors or sitting in his backyard watching the birds and critters that came to visit.
Gerry was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings during his life.
Gerry enjoyed serving others and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. His favorite moments in life were spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandson.
He is survived by his six children: Kathleen York, David York, Shawn York, Traci (Rob) Bleyl, Erin York, and Jamie York; nine grandchildren: McKay, Ryan, Joshua, Taylor, Kennedi, Madi, Carter, Anders and Lily; great grandson, Jacob; brothers: Bradley (Pam) York and Louis (Joan) York; daughter-in-law, Stacey Hall and many loving nieces and nephews. Gerry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeanne Gaye York and his precious grandson, Tyler Bleyl.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. in the Draper Utah South Mountain Stake Center, 272 Traversepoint Drive, Draper, Utah.
