Stan was born to Owen Benjamin Anderson and Elizabeth Schellinger Smith Anderson on October 25, 1930. He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and tried to do his best with any task that he was asked to perform. Stan was born in the house his father built in Bountiful, Utah.
At the age of 8 (March of 1939), his parents and family, along with two other Bountiful families, were called to serve a 5-year mission in the Palmyra, New York branch. The Anderson family lived on and farmed the LDS Church property located east and north of the Hill Cumorah. Stan cherished the memorable experiences that this group had together during their sojourn in the East.
When Stan was 17 (1947), his father, who was an accredited school teacher, accepted a position as Principal of the North Sanpete High School Seminary located in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. Stan graduated from North Sanpete High in 1949. Shortly after that he was accepted as a student at the Rochester, N.Y. General Hospital where he trained as an X-ray Technologist.
Because of the “Korean Conflict” only one young man per ward per year was allowed to be called on LDS missions. While visiting his family during the fall of 1950, Bishop Reed Allred of the Spring City, Utah Ward offered Stan this opportunity. Stan served in the newly organized West Central States Mission. Shortly after his release in 1952 he was drafted into the U.S. Army.
He received 16 weeks of Basic Training at Fort Lewis (state of Washington) and then was transferred to Fort Ord California where he completed his tour of duty as the non-commissioned officer of the Post Hospital X-ray Department.
While at Fort Ord, Stan met and married Barbara Lee Potter of Seaside, California in the Logan, Utah Temple on August the 4th 1954. During the following years they were blessed with seven sons and seven daughters whom he and Barbara dearly cherished – Pamela (Sheldon Lindsay), Daryl (Gayle Ewell), April (Tom Ranger), Tracy (Cindy Mackley), Michael (Lori Mahnke), Brian, David (Jennie Boswell), Carol, Alan (Cheryn Milne), Diane, Gail, Rachael (Dranden Brown), Joy (Scott Lorimer) and Glen (Sarah Marie Ponce).
Upon retirement in 1993 Stan and Barbara purchased Stan’s grand-parent’s home in Pleasant Grove, Utah where they lived “happily ever after”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Elizabeth, his brothers and sister, Ernest, Robert, Esther, and Steve, and his daughter, Diane.
