Gwen Berniece Lee Gillman, 91, of Pleasant Grove, Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away at City Creek Rehabilitation in Salt Lake City on October 6, 2020. She was born October 28, 1928 in Pleasant Grove, Utah, the only child of Orson and Mary Lee. She married Norman Walker Gillman on May 6, 1950. Norman passed away in 2014.
Gwen and Norman raised their three sons in various locations in the Salt Lake Valley. After the boys were raised, Gwen and Norman moved back to the place they always consider home, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Gwen was very smart and talented. She worked for Mountain Fuel Supply as a Senior Manager until her retirement. They loved to travel and made St. George, Utah their second home. Gwen loved to see the sites and partake in a round of golf from time to time and play bingo, she was quite a pro at the game. She had a passion for and was also quite the renowned crafts person. She would make her famous tatted and knitted creations with fine thread and yarn that she would sell in bazars and markets throughout the western states. Gwen had a love for music and played the violin in her younger years. She most of all loved her three boys and was always concerned for them and their families. She always loved the little ones as they came along.
She is survived by her two sons: Richard (Mary Jo) Gillman, Hamilton, MT and James Lee (Jeanette) Gillman, West Valley City, UT; daughter-in-law, Karen Gillman, Boise, ID; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her son, Michael David Gillman.
Our family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation for all the many care-givers, family, and friends who helped care for our mother, grandmother and friend in her final years. A special thank you to Sagewood at Daybreak Senior Living/Memory Care Suites and all the employees and administration for all their exceptional specialized care and kindness for Gwen and all the Alzheimer’s and dementia residents.
Graveside services will be held Monday, October 12, 2020 at 1:30 pm in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, 600 North 100 West, Pleasant Grove under the direction of Olpin Family Mortuary, Pleasant Grove. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
