Henriette Witt Wright, age 78, slipped quietly into the spirit world on early Sunday morning June 14, 2020 after a courageous battle with Muscular Dystrophy. A battle that lasted four years from the time of her medical diagnosis.
Henriette or ‘Henny’ as she was known to her family and friends was born June 22, 1941 in the German port city of Hamburg.
Henriette was born to Hugo Witt of Hamburg, Germany and Berentje Wagelaar of Amsterdam, Netherlands. Her mother, Berentje changed her name to Betty when she became a naturalized citizen of the United States. Henriette was the oldest of four daughters. Henny emigrated to the United States with her parents and sisters when she was only eight years of age. She endured prejudice in her new schools from classmates due to her German ancestry having emigrated, so soon after the end of WW2. In her new country she learned English while attending grade schools in Ogden and Salt Lake cities, later she attended Bryant Junior High in Salt Lake City. She spoke fondly of living with her parents in San Diego, CA., where she lived as a teenager and attended San Diego High School. She was intelligent and had a great grasp of her second language and passed on her gift for spelling to her children. In later years she learned to speak Spanish.
She is survived by three sisters, Evelyn Stubbs, (AZ), Alida Black (last known residence Nebraska) and Cora Witt (Rose Park, Utah), children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Henny is preceded in death by her father, her son Matthew Jacob Kunz, her mother, her granddaughter Leah Christine Sanders (daughter of Lorin Daniel and Vivian Kunz), her son-in-law John Oldroyd and her former husband Lothair Samuel Kunz Sr.
She had six children; Lorin Daniel Kunz (Vivian Rae) Fairview, Ut., Rose Marie Cowan (Chris) Saint George, UT., Charlotte Kristina Davies (John) Pleasant Grove, Ut., Matthew Jacob Kunz, Paul Andrew Kunz (Kimberly) Erda, Ut. and Janet Leanne Kunz (John Oldroyd) Sandy, Utah.
Children of Lorin Daniel Kunz and ex-wife Donna Fay Casten- Felicia and Teasha. Child of Lorin Daniel Kunz and Lisa Peterson - Lyndsey Kunz (Salina, Ut). The children of Daniel and Vivian Rae Kunz- Deedra Lynn Mackenzie, Daniel Jason Owen(Cassie Tate) Surprise, AZ., Jonathan Alan Owen (Mindy) of WVC, UT., David Michael Hamilton(Sarah) of Magna, Ut., Brittany Ann Fields(Matt) of Grantsville Ut., Anthony Lorin Kunz(Maurine)Magna, Ut., Daniel Paul Mcgee (Courtney)SLC, and Lydia Maquelle Kunz.

A private viewing and chapel service for immediate family members, and a few select friends will be held at Olpin Family Mortuary, located at 494 South 300 East Pleasant Grove, Utah on Friday June 19, 2020 as follows; Viewing: 9:30-10:45 am, Chapel service: 11:00 a.m. - 12 Noon. Internment: at Pleasant Grove City Cemetery 12:30 p.m..
Please note: Due to Covid 19 government-imposed restrictions, her viewing and service are limited to 100 persons with the following priorities; Henny’s sisters, children, pallbearers, minor grandchildren, and those persons who have a direct role in conducting and participating in her services. These persons are her LDS Bishop, Scott Fugal- conducting, her dear friend, Sarah McOmber- speaking, dear friends, Jim and Sharon Wright, and Jeff and Kristin Wright, special friends of Henny who loved her, respected her, and served her as Christ-like ministers who are especially appreciated and have a specific invitation as family guests and are considered VIP.
