Hudson Jeffrey Walker was born January 16, 2022 to Ryan and Shelby Walker, whose lives would instantly and forever be changed by the arrival of their Huddy Bear. Along with his parents, Hudson was blessed with the world's best big brother, Beau, who has loved and worried about him since day one. Beau is Huddy's biggest fan and most loyal protector, always and still asking "where's my brudder? I love my Huddy."

Early in Hudson's life, we started noticing some things that just didn't feel right. It was during the first of many hospital stays that we discovered Huddy was having seizures. After months of sleepless nights, hospital stays, and intensive testing, we finally discovered that Huddy had an incredibly rare mutation in his GRIA2 gene that for simplicity sake, caused his brain to seize non-stop. Ultimately making development impossible and presented other serious medical issues.

Through all of his early hospital stays and Dr. appointments, we had never seen someone more brave, tough, or resilient than our sweet little boy. With every stay, he became more and more of a hospital heartthrob, sweeping nurse after nurse off their feet with his perfect round face, cute button nose, and piercing green eyes. There was always a waiting list to hold Huddy while his parents grabbed food or took a quick shower.

When Hudson was about 5 months old, it became clear that the seizures were becoming too much for him and a change needed to be made. It was with a lot of fear and worry we decided that placing Huddy on Hospice was the best step. It allowed us to stay out of the hospital, spend more time at home as a family, and ultimately ended up temporarily changing the entire trajectory of Hudson's condition.

While the last 4 months of Hudson's life still presented serious problems and daily struggles, a miracle occurred. Hudson's seizures disappeared almost entirely. Looking back, the amount of quality time we received seizure-free is a blessing we never imagined, and we are eternally grateful to a loving Heavenly Father for the little miracles and tender mercies along the way.

Being around Hudson made everything better. He truly was the best part of our day, and a perfectly bright light to those who came in contact with him. To hold him was to feel the Savior's love, to be healed from everyday worries, and to be as close to perfection as possible in this world. He simply was everything.

The pain and loss we feel is dark, heavy, and suffocating at times; yet in the precious still, small moments of clarity, it is obvious that Huddy was simply too good for this world.

We miss our baby more than words could describe but couldn't be more grateful to be his parents. Until that day where we have our little boy in our arms again, his courage, bravery, sweet disposition, and beautiful green eyes will be the driving force in our lives moving forward. We LOVE our Huddy.
